No, you don't have to do the MC first...just start eating raw! But if you're really interested, please visit our "Fasting" forum as there are a LOT of master cleanse threads/discussions in there! You may also want to do a search using our search feature to narrow down your choices.

But again, you do not have/need to do this cleanse before starting raw...Alissa recommends just eating raw - go out and get your favorite raw fruits and veggies and if you do not own it, I highly recommend getting Alissa's book, "Living on Live Food" as it is a huge guide both in size and in the amount of information it contains, including a meal plan for 30 days, testimonials/success stories, over 200 recipes and more!

i agree!

raw food is all about cleansing in itself so you don't have to do any restrictive cleanses or fasting IMO. you will get all the benefits you need from eating raw! :D

No! What you "should" do first is purchase Alissa's Living on Live Food book and dvd's. Then you will have answers to your many questions.

You've got a lot of great advice here! I personally love the Master Cleanse - but I did not start my raw food LIFEstyle with it. I did do the MC in January 2007, but didn't start raw until April 2007.

Before going raw my first step was getting Alissas book. It explained so much to me and honestly was the VERY BEST thing I could've EVER done to help me transition successfully to this amazing LIFEstyle.

If you still want to learn some things about the master Cleanse it's also a great idea to google it - there are some great websites that are very informative....

Molly, it's true you don't have to do the master cleanse to begin eating raw foods, but I love the master cleanse and it's the path I chose to become Raw. Actually I wasn't completely on track yet with becoming Raw, it was after I detoxified my body intensely that there was simply no other way to eat. I started out with a goal of 10 days fasting and reached 34. There is a lot of power in fasting and if you combine it with the beauty of eating Raw it's a very powerful combination. But again as Rawkinlocs already explained, it's not necessary as you will detox with Raw too, but it's just the way I like to do it and it's worked really wonderfully for me. I plan to fast 2-3 times per year going forward using other methods as well.

Peace,

Crystal

One of the beauties of fasting of any sort is it helps to interrupt the addiciton cycle. The trick is, then, when returning to food, to be careful to not reintroduce foods that kick that addiction cycle back up again. I had a wonderful Master Cleanse experience, but hadn 't yet sleuthed out the core undercurrent that fed my addiction, so I wound up re-addicted. It can be cyclical, it can be a process, but as long as the circular path spirals upwards, more and more toward light and life, it's OK. I don't have to beat myself up.
