Sorry if this has been answered before. I have a feeling that they're going to be really bad here in Atlanta. Need to brace myself. :D

It actually depends on many things....
1. what percentage of raw are you going? 100%??
2. how toxic was your lifestyle or DIEit before going raw??
3. even something so simple as -- how much water do you drink???
4. how regular are your bowels???
okay - I went 100% raw - jumped in both feet - and I was EXTREMELY TOXIC prior to going raw. I drank vodka very heavily DAILY -- and smoked cigarettes, and ate horribly.
my detox came on pretty quickly - like within a day or two - I began to notice changes happening... I did drink LOTS AND LOTS of water... and also it is VERY important to keep your bowels moving. If you can get a colonic that's great - if you can't .... there are always prunes or herbal laxative teas, or cascara sagrada capsules that stimulate the peristatlic action in your colon... to help moooove things along. Yu can find these things in the health food stores. also - senna is supposed to be very good.
My experience has been -- if your bowels aren't moving and the toxins are building up within you... detox will be waaay worse!
but hang in there --- and just push thru it --- you will be so glad you did!
rawk on!!

Everything except my morning coffee. I'll have to ween myself off that.
2. how toxic was your lifestyle or DIEit before going raw?? Don't drink much anymore. Quit smoking almost 9 months ago. Diet was mediocre at best. Lots of processed foods.
3. even something so simple as -- how much water do you drink??? In the summer, easily a gallon a day. Winter 50% of that.
4. how regular are your bowels??? Very
I had a good diet for most of my life... but drank a ton of coffee and had been eating more meat right before I went raw. The detox started on Day 1 because I got rid of the coffee. I felt pretty awful... Like I had been a heroine addict or something!!!
I'm not sure about if you keep the coffee... Detox really varies from person to person. Starfire's so right about keeping the bowels moving, though! Have you tried green smoothies? Those help big time. That's great that you're already having regular bowel movements (coffee is a diuretic and practically like taking an enema! That helps on that front!)...
Sometimes the detox comes in waves... you detox some which is no fun, then feel better than ever. Then it happens again, and then you AGAIN feel better than ever before. :)

I've been doing a smoothie each morning and sometimes one for dinner.
Didn't follow a recipe just through a bunch of stuff in the blender.
It's usually a couple handfuls of spinach, an apple,a banana,a couple carrots,ACV,maybe some cayenne pepper, maybe some red cabbage. It comes out to somewhere around 40-50 ounces.
I'm actually surprised at the taste. I have absolutely no problems drinking it. At the end of a month it might be a different story entirely.

Awhile back before I got derailed of the raw band wagon my detox experience happened the first day I started. It wasn't even extreme raw food just a bowl of salad with light dressing and then bananas for lunch after lunch I wanted to throw up I had the worse headache ever and this was the first day of going raw ; after that I could not take it because I didn't ease myself into it and it takes alot of commitment. But if you dont ease yourself into this your body won't be used to clean food. That's the way I see it anyways.
platypus... that's great! So you're on your way already! :)
and crissy... whatever works better for you, go for it!!! Easing in, jumping in... it's all a journey to feeling fantastic, so whatever it takes to get the job done, it's good. :)

If you've ever been RAW before then the detox can reappear just as soon as you tell yourself your going to do a reRAW.
The first symptom is the heebee geebees where you get all cool feeling on the outside just remebering the awesome rush you felt when you consumed avacados for breakfast, lunch and dinner and lost weight like crazy.
The second symptom is a bit of anxiety 'cause you know RAW gives you so much energy and you are afraid that you want have anything to do between 5am and 1am when your wide awake running healthfully off of 4hours sleep.
The third is called RAWMASUTRATIGO, where your non RAW partner can't hang with your increase libido and estrogen filled overtures;)
