Well I love soy milk. It's the greatest thing ever especially vanilla flavored soy milk. I use it for cereal and my smoothies. But since I cut cereal from my diet I use it for smoothies. Is there any substitute for soy milk like a raw milk that doesn't taste bad? I have heard of almond milk but I am not to sure if it's purely raw if it comes in a carton. I want to continue using some type of cream/milk for my smoothies.

BTW I make the best smoothies because I am a former employee of Jamba Juice ^_^ I have every recipe written down or stuck in my head and wouldnt mind using substitutes to make these great smoothies.

So easy to make almond milk. There's recipes here where people have asked this same question. NO liquid that comes in a carton is raw.

Another thing I've done is add cashews to the fluid, grind that first to make the "milk", then add whatever else you want.

Hello! Just so you know, pretty much anything out of a carton won't be considered raw...that said, there are plenty of nut/seed milks you can make to replace the processed stuff...

here are some of my favs:
Hemp seed milk
Sesame seed milk
Almond Milk
Coconut water (great in smoothies!)

You can blend the nuts/seeds with water and strain the liquid with a nut milk/sprouting bag. You can add honey or vanilla or whatever to sweeten.

It's a little more effort than just going to the store and buying a carton of soymilk, but a lot better for you.

Soy is very unhealthy and dangerous to human health, you can raed about it online. Many studies have confirmed the health dangers of soy. Soy milk is also not at all raw, any milk you can buy in a store is cooked with the exception of a few states allowing the sale of raw cow milk, but vegan milks are all pasteurized (that's why they last for years, raw milk is bad in 12-24 hours even when refrigerated).

I would recommend making your own almond milk if you really want to use milk, but what I do is simply put macadamia nuts and coconut oil in my smoothies and it makes them very rich and creamy.

Like everything else, one day something is good for you, the next day it is bad for you......
You have to read the info and decide for yourself.
I, personally, use coconut in my smoothies.

Yeah, I used to love the vanilla soymilk. I've put water in my smoothies and then thrown in some cashews, a little agave, some vanilla and it's been a pretty good substitute for soymilk. Alot of people make nut milks, I just haven't gone down that path yet, not to say I won't one of these days.
