anyone get any gifts that are specific to raw foods?

I got a ceramic knife (YIPPEE!) and a new food processor (my old one was barely making due and was missing parts like the grater and the HANDLE!).

Did anyone else get any raw/living gifts? :D

My Dad sent me a tray of dried fruits and dates (YUMMO!), a bamboo cutting board, and I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Alissa's book and dvd!!!!! I was finally able to get them thanks to unexpected gifts of money and charity:D

What is a ceramic knife for? I don't believe I have heard of those...congrats on the new fp!!!

I'll let you know what I get when I finally go shopping with the gift card my husband gave me. :D No, none of my family or friends would have a clue how to get me something to help with raw...but the gift card...I can use to spoil myself! LOL

Congrats on all your new goodies! Enjoy chopping, dicing...and mixing! :)

Champion 2000+ Juicer!

Started Christmas morning with fresh apple juice and then tried a blend of cucumber/apple. Unfortunately, cucs and apples were the only juicable produce I had in my house and all the stores were closed! First order of business today...buy fresh produce and nuts for nut butter!

NO!! NO raw gifts for me. I did get a $50 gift, and I want to spend it on my raw lifestyle, but now sure what I want....maybe an order from "thedatepeople" or .....???? I think I might buy myself some new dishes...something earthy, and colorful (I've seen some at Target I like) and maybe, I think I would like some cute ceramic spoons (like you eat soup with at the Japanese steakhouse) I guess a ceramic knife is OUT of the question, I'm guessing it probably would cost $$$$.....I also saw a lightweight stainless steel water bottle that Ani Phyo talks about in her book (about $20) I would like that too...;

Any suggestions for about $50???

Thanks...maybe I'll save for some new clothes when the weight starts to release from my body!

My parents got me a Jack LaLanne Blender (Vitamix imposter). I hope it works decently, I couldnt let my parents spend that much on a vitamix:(

Either way I am happy!

I got the paperback book How to be a Vegan Freak in A Non-Vegan world, and although it's about veganism rather than raw veganism the issues and the social problems are pretty similar and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It's wise and funny and practical and has given me renewed inspiration when it comes to being strong and open with others about eating raw.

I got a cutting board that fits over the sink. We really didn't do many gifts this year, just didn't seem appealing... But this is great so far! :)

dh and I haven't really exchanged Christmas presents in a couple of years - money has been extremely tight.... so I was extremely shocked when I recieved 2 uncook books from him - Ani phyo's book and Matt Amsden's RAWvolution book  ... I had told him I wanted to order Ani phyo's book, but I didn't say anything about drooling over Matt Amsden's recipes that I see posted here and there.... dh found the books at Borders (which in it'self is pretty amazing b/c the Borders in Hilo has a terrible section on raw foods or the raw lifestyle!)...

then my bff got me the un~cookbook by Brigette Mars - it's like the encyclopedia of raw foods and has some great recipes in there too! It's called RAWSOME!... great info in there!

another couple that we love dearly got me an incredible grater... like restaurant quality! They have one and i commented to dh that I wanted a grater like that one - cuz it's so amazing! So - our neighbors drove over an hour to the kitchen store for restaurant supplies and bought me one!

I was completely shocked this Christmas - I was not expecting anything... and I was blessed with 3 AMAZING raw un~cook books and a kick butt grater!! http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/woohoo.gif

I think santa loves me!!

YEAH Starfire.....you deserved such a great blessing!

I will say that DH bought me some CLOGGING SHOES!! Yes, I know, but my 7yr old dd is going to start clogging in January, and they have a great instructor (their competition team wins alot of 1st place trophies) anyway, I commented on how I would like to take the adult class, it has lots of upbeat music, and just looks like FUN...high energy, and great, fun exercise! So, even though it's not a raw treat, it is a "healthy, active lifestyle" treat!! I can't wait!

DANCING ALL THE WAY.....

Yea for US and our healthy gifts! Tvillemom-I'm *pretty* sure my dh got it from overstock and I think they are about $40-50. Your $50 could buy a saladacco and a uncookbook too!

I WANT CLOGGING SHOES!!! Do you know of any resource that will help me find clogging lessons in my area? I've looked a few times and never found a place:(

Oh and Israeli folk dancing is DA BOMB! I used to live with the Twelve tribes people and we circle danced every Friday night, entering the Shabbat. I LOVED IT. I almost could have stayed just for the dancing. LOL!

3 Cheers for our LOVED ONES that gave such THOUGHTFUL gifts! They must really love us, huh? ;)

Zaphirah, I would not know how to get you in touch, except maybe call all the dance companies in your area, if they don't offer it maybe they know someone who will.....

I would have never thought to take clogging, thinking of watching a "hoe down" when I was younger, is not my "thing", but watching the competition team and the adult class perform, is great fun, so I can't wait!!

Not like Starfire's hula though, I would still like to learn that!!!! Maybe I'm a dancer at heart???

oh and t-ville I for got to mention that I did get my dc/dh Sigg water bottles for Chrismas. They love 'em. I know they are expensive, but I figured $19 apiece isn't much in comparision to juice boxes. I mean i bet I could spend $20 bucks on juice boxes in a week or two for all these kiddies we got, ya know? LOL!

I was really spoiled this year...My parents bought me an Excaliber 5-tray and a Black and Decker juicer!!! I'm the happiest happy kid there is! I took the dehydrator out of the box and tried to explain to my dad what it actually is, and then I put it back in the box!! I realized that I've been eating simple raw for 3 years and now I have the world at my fingertips!! Im scared!!!!!! :o

I got a gigantic organic fruit basket from the local health food store...thanks to two of my aunts! :D Yay! That was a great gift! I ate most of it in the two days I stayed there. They were a bit surprised at that, but glad their gift was getting used! I guess they don't know how much fruit I usually eat. :o

My awesome brother got me an OXO mandoline! According to others, he spent 2 hours in the chef shop fiddling with all that they had and annoying the proprietors to find the right one. Bless him! He wants me to make raw ravioli for him. It is still in the box - I'm a little intimidated. But hopefully I will be able to get the super thin slices now!

I didn't get any other "raw lifestyle" gifts. I guess I didn't really specify anything though.

I was thinking that gift certificates to live foods classes might be on my birthday list....

I got an UNBELIEVABLE, way too expensive knife set from my bf as well as bamboo cutting boards to cover our stove top... it's awesome! The best gift of all was coming home to my family in FL and seeing that my mom took the time (2 nights to be exact) searching the internet for raw recipes that she can make me for our Christmas eve and day dinners. I was blown away, as she was less than happy when I told her I was now 100% no cheats raw. I made the recipes myself to save her time, but was so touched that she did that. I showed her Alissa's book and she was so into it. It was a great RAW christmas :)

My honey got me a Vitamix! I've wanted one for about 25 yrs. Then I went on ebay and bought a 4 tray exaliber dehydrater and spiral slicer with Christmas money and am waiting for Alissas book and DVD. My SO decided to try raw for 30 days so this will help me get a little more creative with our meals. I did real well during the summer with just a blender and all the summer fruits and veggies.

My parents gave me an amazing knife set--I'm so excited! And my sister and brother in law gave me my very first food processor. Woohoo! Also, one of the ladies at work gave me a gift certificate to a health food store I really like. All in all, it was a very wonderful Christmas!

NYbutterfly: I think your Christmas sounded so terrific! Your mom didn't keep Alissa's book did she? I think that would have probably made the best gift, someone being so in love with the book, and the concept, that they asked to keep my book.....I could always order another, and the gift of health to them would be even more of a gift to me! Anyway, sounds like your mom may be more interested in RAW than just preparing your meals....maybe you've planted a seed there!! Congratulations!!!!

Mamabird: congrats on your vitamix, I hope I don't have to wait that long...but I just bought a really great Oster....and I really like it and feel like it could last years....maybe when it gives out!!!;)

Another Vitamix for Channukah here! From my parents - and they gave it to me as soon as it arrived, not waiting until the actual holiday, so I've had it for over a month now. I am so deeply in love with it.

My mom broke her leg really badly a couple weeks ago, but when she's able to get around on crutches I'm gonna invite my folks over for an all-Vitamix dinner - soup and something else and dessert.

Wow, it sounds like everyone had a great Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa! For me, it doesn't seem that my family understands the idea of "raw vegan"....hence the plethora of (non raw) chocolate in the stocking! So with my Christmas money, I gave myself the gift of knowledge! I bought Green For Life by Victoria Boutenko, and The Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose, to add to my library! I'm so excited!!! Oh, and I bought 8 bottles of kombucha tea as well! Bottoms up!

P.S. Star ~ you're going to love Ani's book.....let me know how you like RAWvolution...I skimmed through it at the health store, but didn't really get to read it.....tell me if a lot of the recipes require a dehydrator! Happy un-cooking lady!
