thanks Vegan Vixen and Tanja - we have the same shopping cart!! :p
P.S.
if you add something possibly considered unusual or mysterious by some - which is what I'm hoping for...
please tell how to best use it - I want to discover something new!
I see mysterious stuff on the produce shelf all the time and though intrigued, I don't usually buy it because I don't know what to do with it... ;)
*example - rutabaga - don't know how to use it???
and rhubarb? - as I saw on another thread.
maybe I should have called this thread "Favorite Obscure Produce" - hee-hee... :D

and here, I thought you only wanted one, I was struggling trying to figure that out.
Well, my top produce is different for different reasons,
As something new, that I never tried before raw it would be
1. Dates
As something to use in raw food preparation it would be
1. onions, (as I never ate them raw much before, usually carmelized, and now I have two huge onion patches, where we grow onions all year long, because I use so many of them
As something I couldn't live without ever
1. Sun dried tomatoes, (although I make them myself, so they are organic, and I use alot of herbs)
As far as something that I love and add to almost everything
1. Basil
As far as what I eat almost every day
1. Bananas
As far as my favorite snack
1. Grapefruit
As far as my favorite tropical food
1. Pineapple
As far as my favorite all time, ate since I was a kid, can't get enough of
1. Oranges (I make juice every day)
And as far as my most weird thing I ever ate, and not sure I want to again, but am willing to be open and try, just once more
1. Durian
One more, as far as my most delicious, orgasmic, delectable, but hard to find truly fresh, and we grow it
1. raspberries
OOPS, I lied, One more, as far as I tried it when I was dancing in Japan, loved them, and can't find them here
1. Fresh Lichi nuts (they are like large white grapes, kind of fibrous, with dark red thick knobbly skin)
2. Weird small purple grapes (where you popped them, and the skin slipped off, which was very sour, but the grape inside was super sweet)
3. fresh melon (kind of like honey dew only $5.00 for 1/2 and that was in 1983)

this thread is very fun and informative... I've never tried parsnips, mache, jicama, pomelo, kumquats, durian or lichi... neat!!
...and I can't wait to try out that Rutabaga recipe from Vegan Vixen - I like it's simple list of ingredients.
thanks.

That reminds me of when I was in Thailand & would eat mangosteen from the market all the time -- I have never-ever seen fresh mangosteen in the USA.
I guess I'll have to try something new to see if I like it just as much...
Great thread...

I've heard that you can not import mangosteen to the US, not sure why, but they do sell the juice in Xango, however it is highly processed.
