Since my nut allergy has become worse I am looking through my uncook books for recipes that don't require tree nuts or seeds. My peanut allergy is very severe and now it appears that I react negatively to tree nuts (haven't been brave enough to try seeds yet after my latest reaction!) and of course the possibility of cross contamination of peanuts or peanut dust getting on other nuts when they are produced in the same plant makes me avoid all of them for now.

If I can find seeds that are pure and no way could have been contaminated with any peanut residue I will eventually try them. Tree nuts are out because of the extreme stomach aches they give me that have eventually gotten worse over the past few years and I can't take the chance of another reaction like the last one I had or even worse.

Anyway, long story short (ha!) I ended up in the hospital a few weeks ago with cross contamination of a peanut product in something I ate and it took 48 hours for the swelling in my eyelids (I looked like Frankenstein!) to go away much less everything that went haywire like hives, lack of breathing(!), etc... I did refuse the Prednisone injections and let my body release the toxins on its own.

So I know there must be some recipes for pates, cookies, etc... but I've always relied on tree nuts for the base of these types of recipes. I've been making little cookies out of soaked dates and bananas with a bit of cinnamon and just mix in the processor and freeze little balls, yummy! And of course all sorts of fruit vice cream, just frozen fruit processed and also fruit puddings.

Any help with recipe ideas I'd sure appreciate, especially some sort of pate? Maybe with carrots or zucchini as a base... I don't know and am so open to ideas!! Avocado, coconut, olives, these are all okay foods for me too. I don't eat grains or beans either. So fruits and veggies it is!

This reaction was such a blessing, it sure made me clean up my diet in a hurry! I lost that last stubborn 5 lbs. and feel so much better now. When I go into the grocery store I truly do see the produce section as giving life and the entire rest of the store as taking life away... literally!

Thank you for your help!!

Note-I do not advocate the raw food diet without the addition of nuts and seeds if you can eat them, I wish I could still have them in my diet. I agree with the way Alissa approaches the raw food diet and just wanted to be clear my decision is based on my allergies and is for no other reason. Thank you Alissa for your quick response to my allergy question when I emailed your office a few weeks ago, you RAWk!!

Zuchini pasta is really yummy, just use zuchini peeled with a vegetable peeler and make a sauce from garlic and olive oil.
Good luck with dealing with your allergies! It's a bummer that you can't have nuts and seeds, but each person is unique and their diets should be too.
Make sure you keep having your avos, olive oil and coconut to get your good fat.
I also love making fudge with 1 cup maca, 1/2 cup melted coconut oil, 1/2 cup raw honey or agave and 1/3 cup raisins. It tastes like butterscotch.

I'll be going in for allergy testing for tree nuts and seeds in January so that I can better figure out how to change how I was eating raw. I've not experimented with recipes yet because hopefully I'll still be able to eat seeds (if not a few types of nuts) and can re-work a few of my favorite recipes.

Blending bananas and dates and freezing the "dough" in little blobs is really good for a dessert though!
