Hi everyone!
I am very excited to finally be a part of such a wonderful network of people! I am 40 years young, single mom of one son (14yrs old), and a banker. I first learned of Alissa Cohen and raw food diet from the Trya Banks Show (diet war episode). I went to Alissa's website for more information. I liked what I read and the comments made by you guys at raw food talk confirmed my decision to order Alissa's book.
I've just started my third week as a raw fooder and I FEEL AMAZING! In two weeks I have lost fourteen pounds, my allergies and sinus problems have completly disappeared. I have not taken any OTC medicines or Precription drugs for my allergies since the third day of being raw. I love the results and the way I feel thus far. I have always loved fresh veggies & fruit and ate very little meat before going raw. However, I am having a problem with the taste of the foods I have prepard so far being raw. I have not liked much of the foods I've have prepared which is presenting somewhat of a challenge to stick to this way of eating(which I have thus far and not cheated). So far these are the dishes that I have tried and like: angle hair pasta w/marinara sauce, potato salad, broccoli soup and the date nut torte (which at first I did not like, but it grew on me). I want to be able to enjoy the foods I eat, and continue on the raw food path because I feel amazing and have so much more energy. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Welcome!! Try adding raspberries to the date nut torte. Just throw them on top - I NEVER eat a torte without them. You can also make a sauce of raspberries and agave and pour it on ~ it's truly devine! Glad you decided to join the forum ~ there is just a wealth of info here and the recipies are AMAZING!! Eggless eggsalad on onion bread is my new favorite. ;)

I use to live near Hillcrest in an apartment complex. I became a home owner and now live in Duncan(Spartanburg county) but still work in Spartanburg on Pine St.
I did decided to go 100% raw from the start to really see the difference, per Alissa's suggestion in her book, and I did after the third day of being raw. It was not hard for me to give up eating meats because I've never been much of a meat eater. The challenge for me being raw is to find raw recipes that I like so that I can continue to stay raw. Last week was my third week 100% raw, I lost another six pounds which brings my total weight loss to twenty pounds. Today is Wednesday and I'm half way through the fourth week and I can say this week with the dehydrated foods that I am preparing that I do like the taste alot better. My Son is 14 and he is not 100%. He enjoys meat and mac & cheese too much. Although, he has enjoyed alot to the raw dishes I have prepared thus far, which I was very suprised because he is such a picky eater. I have began to decrease the amount of meats and cook food he eats so one day soon, hopefully, he will be 100% raw. By the way, I also went to Broome. I may know your daughter since we would have graduated in the same class.

Hi Jacsam,
I have tried the blueberrypie a few days ago. Although it was one of the deserts from an earlier week, I did not make it until a few days ago and I do like it alot. I also enjoy this site!

If you want something good with your salad look up onion bread in the search
It is so good and filling.Sometimes I put a tomato on the bread it is good.
My daughter is Leatha Giles she graduated the same time you did my son wayne went to but he is 43.
Good luck with raw. It is a great way to live.

Welcome to the board, it's very nice to meet you!!!:D You've done wonderfully so far! Congrats on the weight loss, and those symptoms disappearing- well that's just incredible!!!
It's been hot and miss here with recipes. If I like it my hubby probably doesn't. And my oldest daughter (6 yrs) will like something the first time I make it and not like it after that. It's so frustrating. I strive to give them more variety, but it's hard!!
Let us know what else you do like, and I'll try them on my family.;)
