Okay, this question may or may not be TMI but I am just really curious to know.... If someone were to do a, let's say 3-5 days juice fast/feast, how do you have a bowel movement if there is no fiber? and is it healthy to stop fiber completely because then once you add it back, wouldn't your bowels be confused and not know what to do with it? lol. I'm just really curious because that's a sensitive subject for me, I've suffered from IBS with Constipation for years and just finally got it under control and I've wanted to try a 3 day juice feast but I'm nervous about not being able to go to the bathroom... and I do not do well with enemas or anything of that sort.

Maybe someone can explain this to me a little more? thanks!

It has been suggested here that Senna Tea is the best thing to have during a fast or you could go for a colonic irrigation.

Cascara Sagrada (aged bark in for of capsules) is also recommended. But with both Senna Tea and Cascara Sagrada, you don't want to be taking either for too many days. But on a short fast like you want to do either would help. For some reason Senna tea doesn't work too well for me. And Cascara Sagrada works TOO well for me!! :)

I've read the other two suggestions but also serious fasters strongly recommend enemas, especially in the beginning or otherwise the body is poisoned. But once you break a fast, the peristalsis motion kicks right in- like riding a bicycle, it won't forget. It would appreciate the break from fiber for awhile to play catch-up on old cleaning.

i think you may find that you actually continue to have solid bowel movements for several days, especially if you add juices with laxative properties (prune, apple, apple/spinach). that's been my experience... i haven't had major digestive problems before though.

personally i'd rather use those juices than the teas but that's just because the teas give me stomach cramps.

a salt water flush is helpful as well. but that's a very short fast... you probably won't need anything to assist your bowels. you'd be surprised how long you will have a bowel movement while fasting!

my girlfriend is on day 80-something of a juice feast and she's STILL passing feces!!! and yes, she's doing SWF's and enemas. amazing eh?
