Well this is the first time I have been to this site. I don't really know much about raw food, but am interested after reading some information on the internet and on this site. I am 33 years old and happily married with no kids (yet). In my 20's I was a fitness competitor and in excellent health. In 2002 I had my gall bladder removed and have taken a major nose dive - except for the scale. I was 128lbs and am now tipping the scale at 200lbs. Nothing in my current diet or workout regime has really changed, although I find that I really crave carbs all the time now, but usually do good at resisting (sheer will power). I am half asleep all of the time and walk around like my head is in a fuzzy cloud. I have developed insulin resistance, among other things and am storing most of the excess weight in the mid-section. I ache everywhere, get sick all the time and feel like garbage! I know that when you have no gall bladder your liver and other systems take the brunt, but I never thought that it would impact me like this. I am at the end of my rope. I have just started back at the gym, again, seriously with a trainer but I know that if I don't fix my body from the inside first it is all moot. I think that I should start with a really good liver cleanse but don't know where to start - any suggestions? Any input, feedback anyone has would be much appreciated!!!!!!!

Aloha and Welcome to RFT!!! I am so glad you found this forum. there is a lot of information here ... on the main directory page - near the top - Alissa has a really terrific liver cleanse that you can follow.
Also - I would suggest you pick up Alissas book and the DVD... two AMAZING tools to help you to understand not just the basics - but exactly what is going on with your body as you transition and heal!! PLUS... OVER 300 AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS RECIPES!! Without these two tool in my library- I would've fallen to the wayside long ago...
instead I have stopped drinking, smoking, I've lost over 51 pounds so far, my migraines are GONE!! And so is the brain fog.... along with so many other aches and pains...
RAW RAWKS!! and you are approaching this with great wisdom... gotta heal the inside before your body will really respond on the outside...
blessings on your journey... and ... enjoy the ride!

Welcome to the board!! Like Starfire says I would suggest that you get Alissa Cohens book, it will get you off to a great start and the food taste great. Also you might think about taking a intro class to raw foods from a teacher in your area, this way you can see how raw foods are made.
Look forward to seeing you around the board.

Thank you all of the great input and support. I will get Alissa's book to start with, the better informed I am the better I will become! I do have one more question - I have seen a lot of people talking about the master cleanse, what is that?
Thank you

Hey Welcome! Stay Raw and Healthy - i now it is can be difficult at the begining but Raw is the way! I am sorry you do not feel well but it will get better - you will find your OWN balance. I struggled with gym and diet and had my failures. I would stick to green smoothies and take it easy in the gym - add everything slowly and observe. I would suggest 30 day challenge - it keeps me focused and really live day by day, take preassure from big goals helps and keep going. You are in the right place! Keep reading about raw also - it helps to find answers. Stay in touch:) Rawk on!
