Ok, raw buddies...I have barely managed to stay raw today. Barely. :o I'm desperately trying to stay motivated. (I actually put my dehydrator out in the garage and replaced it with my coffee maker. I haven't had any coffee...but I'm discouraged today.)

Any ideas on what to stock my house with this week...that will be like...wow...I can't wait to eat that! :p Because so far over the last two weeks of mixing and dehydrating...I have learned that the only thing to come out of my deydrator that is at all enjoyable...are corn chips. And honestly, they just aren't good enough for the work involved. So, the dehydrator is out!

I can't seem to digest nuts or seeds too well lately and shortly after eating them my stomach feels extremely upset.

So...I need help. Any suggestions? I was also discouraged when I opened my last avocado today and it had gone bad.

I ate a raw sandwich in anger really. Frustrated at the lack of options available to me right now. I was doing so good...what happened?

That's a hard place to be, I know~ *hugs*
I would buy lots and lots of clemintines...they are so good, easy and quick to eat, small papayas, pineapple...stuff to make beautiful fruit salads. I make a sorbet/topping for my asst. fruit plates out of frozen banana and fresh mangos (you could use frozen too) mix till smooth in the food processor...thin w/oj if you like and pour or spoon over fruit......yummy and beautiful to look at. Have served this to may non-raw friends and family and they always wow over it!!
A staple for me is almond mylk w/frozen bananas and cacao (maca too) I make it thick and sweet and it fills me up and is delicious. Also cut up tomatoes and avocados w/raw italian dressing.

For me...and I hope I don't get tomatoes thrown at me for this (why waste those beauties?) but I am very high raw for the holidays but if there is something I want than I will have a small portion of it. That doesn't happen often and it doesn't send me off on a non-raw binge. IMHO from Thanksgiving to Christmas is the hardest part of the year and I am not going to make myself crazy over what to me is a journey anyway.

Wishing you the very best of what works for you~

How about a really sweet, thick, filling, dessert-y green smoothie? With mango and pineapple and banana and things like that? That's what I make for myself in the evening if I'm feeling like I want to forget it and order some takeout...

I'm sorry you're having a rough day...definitely been there. For me, the smoothies and desserts help when I want something else. Anything to make me feel like I am indulging. A lot of the desserts have nuts, but there are many recipes for just fruit-based desserts that are filling and very delicious. Do you have Alissa's book? Just skim through the dessert section and see what catches your eye. Good luck to you. Hang in there!

I had that same kind of day on Sunday. I couldn't even figure out what I was craving. I think it was sugar. Anyway, I usually don't keep foods in the house that will get me into trouble but for some reason I kept going into the refrigerator looking for whatever.... Thankfully there was absolutely nothing in there for me except my usual raw foods and treats. I really didn't want any of that so I went and sat down on my bed because I was just going to bury my head under the covers because I was really freaking out and I felt a major binge coming on. Then 2 little words popped into my head! GREEN SMOOTHIE!!!!:p Seriously. So I got up and made a really wonderful fruit smoothie, put it in the freezer so it would get really thick and then I sipped on that for a while and I was totally satisfied. :D

Then I thought about the positive changes that have taken place since I starting taking this whole "raw thing" seriously and changed my diet. My knees don't hurt any more when I wake up in the morning.:) I actually ran up some stairs the other day. It's been a real long time since I've been able to run anywhere, let alone up stairs! Huge plus. My skin is positively glowing! My co-workers are staring at my face! They don't seem to be able to figure out what has changed but they are staring and smiling. I am sleeping better and I am waking up with energy. Before raw I would have to hit the snooze button on my alarm clock numerous times before I would drag my aching, SAD, fat, depressed body out of bed. Now I wake up before the alarm clock! I don't dred the very thought of putting my feet on the floor and dragging myself up. My disposition is so much better and I am handling my stressful situations a lot better. So I say try the smoothies. I have been doing them for almost a month now and they have changed the way I eat and the way I feel. Also take some time to focus on the way you feel raw as opposed to how you felt SAD. Finally those visualizations are starting to work for me - maybe they'll work for you too!:o

GOOD LUCK!!!!

As I read your post I thought GREEN SMOOTHIE! No nuts, no dehydrating, simple, fast, yummy, filling ... ok, now I'm doing the green smoothie dance. Treat yourself to a raw food field trip, I don't know where you live ... but find a farmer's market or raw restaurant or HF store you haven't been to yet and make a trip. Look for things you haven't enjoyed yet, maybe even splurge on something you might not spend the money on otherwise - you're worth it, buy yourself a new raw (un) cookbook. These were just some thoughts. Good luck!

OK, a cup of warm chocolate. Anyhow, it makes my day. I try to have one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Two heaping teaspoons of raw cocoa powder, flavored stevia (chocolate with raspberries), about 1/2 tsp of cinnamon and keep stirring as you drink. Makes my day.

You guys are so wonderful. Thank you for all your great ideas.:)

Tonight I had a few food enzymes with an apple and 1/2 a bottle of this new beverage that our Local Healthfood Store got in. It's Organic Raw Gingerade Kombucha. (It may have been around for a while, but it is new to me. :D) Before all this I had a two hour nap and I have to say...I feel fabulous compared with this morning. :p

Thanks again for all your lovely ideas...I will try the smoothies...and raw cocoa. These ideas really spoke to me. And I did just buy two new un-cook books, I just need to really try some of those new recipes. Your ideas were great! Thank you all! (((HUGS)))
