View Full Version : Any Food Sensitivities?

I was just writing in another post that I have trouble with certain foods raw. (onions, garlic, shallots) I can comfortably eat them in a dehydrated meal, but not say...on a raw sandwich with lettuce and tomato. I get heartburn and the onion tastes just lingers for hours.

Does anyone else have this issue or other food issues after going raw?

Second thought...if you have been raw for a long time...do you have a staple diet...things that you just know you are going to eat every week because they really just hit the spot every time?

For me...that would be bananas. I never tire of them...they always hit the spot and could there be an easier food? It comes in it's own little carry case. :D

I am sometimes sensitive to cabbage. Some days I can eat it, and others, it tears my stomach up!

As for staples in my house - bananas and sunflower seeds:)

I am not ok with swiss chard and collard, cilantro is sometimes irritating too, watercress makes me not well and wheat grass is a strong allergen - but i have million other things i can eat. I am into parsley, kale and spinach now:)
Brazil nuts and pine nuts are probably not very good for my system!

garlic, onions and cauliflower and kale are a no no for me. apart from making my breath stink for hours on end they make me feel very heavy and bloated almost making it difficult for me to breathe.

thank the sweet universe for green juices and algae! :)

I am allergic to dairy and eggs. Not a problem on a vegan diet. But I'm also allergic to almonds. A few weeks ago, I spaced out and licked a knife with almond butter on it. Made my throat all itchy and burning. :(

Broccoli raab, which never gave me a problem when it was cooked. Ah well...

For me it's grains and most nuts and seeds, even sprouted and live. I was sensitive to it before raw too but it does seem more pronounced now that I've been 100% raw for a few weeks, I think it's because I feel so good and that the sprouted wheat or nut makes me feel tired and headachey and bloated, but when I ate cooked I felt that way most of the time without realising it wasn't normal.

For me so far, my staples are greens (salads, green smoothies), garlic, citrus fruit, apples and bananas, and raw fermented vegetables and beverages.

Avocados :( . At first I thought it was just a food combining issue, but more than a tiny bit of avocado, even on its own, upsets my stomach for hours. It's like it never digests, it just sits in my stomach. Too bad, 'cause I love them!
