I have been to 3 or 4 hfs looking for raw buckwheat. I've only been able to find toasted buckwheat. Where do you all get yours??

Also, I just read something about raw sugar...do any of you use this? (I think they refer to it as turbinado)

i dont think that raw sugar is actually raw, but at least not refined so preferable to white sugar. i ve always found buckwheat at organic markets

raw sugar = BIG NO, this is NOT a raw sweetner! This is still refined sugar but with some of the molasses left in.:(

You want to look for Buckwheat groats. Ask in your whole foods by this name. They may even be able to order it in for you. I dont know where in CA. you are but down south there is Wild Oats and I'm sure they would have it.:)

You'd be smart to do a search on buckwheat because there are different kinds and you do NOT want to get it with the hull on, as you will just end up tossing it.

There was just a thread on here about 3 days ago regarding this...

They have it at my local HFS, but I was getting it from sproutpeople.com before I discovered that...

I live near San Luis Obispo. Not too great of selection around here unless you go south to LA or North several hours.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I will keep looking! My family loves cereal and I've been hoping to make them buck wheaties...right now, I make Alissa's Banana Flax Crackers and break them up into flakes, mix them with nuts and fruits...they like it, but we need variety!
