WOW, my body confuses me. Yesterday I ate around 12,000 calories, and today I wake up, weigh myself, and find I've lost about three pounds. I've always had a very slow metabolism, could it be raw has sped it up insanely? Or is it something else?

have you been building muscle? Muscle mass has a lot to do with metabolism

Nope, I've actually lost a lot of muscle mass over the past few years. I never exercise...bad, I know.

What did the 12,000 calories consist of?

rawviolis with sauce
vanilla nut mylk steamer
hot chocolate

Only the most amazing restaurant ever! Juliano's :D
And I work there, so we even got a discount for all that delicious food :)

HOW does one eat 12,000 calories?! It seems physically impossible!!

I LOVE julianos :) My mom and I will be going there soon, we LOVED it. Any MAJOR reccomendations? I had the "burrito" w/ the collard last time, it was fab! I dunno what to try next :)

All those dishes you listed... did you take bites from each one or eat the entire portion? Wow! I just ate 3 avocados and a ton of nuts and seeds, raw chocolate that I made and other goodies... now the guilt is lifting in hopes I'll wake up a little lighter, but I also had LOADS of salt so I may not.

You probably ate around 3,000-5,000 cals at the most. Which is still lots but I am not sure how you are loosing it so quickly.

Wow, that's cool though....unless you're underweight. So, do you love your job? What do you do?

SmilingRawDancer - I have issues with overeating. As for major recs, it depends what you're in the mood for. Smoothies: Kleem and the chocolate shake. Warm drinks: hot chocolate and vanilla nut mylk steamer. Soup: tortilla and bagnok thai. Appetizers: Rawviolies, spring rolls, and pumpkin tortellini. Salads: Tahini and thai. Entrees: AB&J, Avocado sandwich, warm fat chez melt, guac & chez burrito, and bacon western double. Dessert: crepes, cheesecake, and s'mores.

NY Butterfly: I ate everything for most of them. I had a few bites of others, but trust me; it adds up!

Stina: Nope, I'm actually slightly overweight. And yes, I LOVE MY JOB. I work mainly with the computers; designing in-store ads, doing data entry, compiling a catalog of items, sending mass emails, etc. I basically do whatever is needed of me.

Jenna - Sadly, I won't be there Wednesday :( I will be there Thursday though, from about 3:45 until 5:30. I work longer on weekends. If anyone wants to visit, I work part-time every day except for Tuesday and Wednesday. I hope you enjoy your meal!

And thanks to everyone for the replies! I'm astounded myself :P

Aw, I have issues with overeating too...it's hard. Sorry, I didn't mean to offend :)

At least the food was raw! When i went to Juliano's last, I ate ALOT for me - I cleaned all my plates. I had the chocolate shake, Quac &Cheeze burrito, Cinnamon Roll, pumpkin tortellini and some flax crackers with various dips.
I felt sick after...it really reminded me of when I ate SAD...but it was the FIRST time I had eaten out since raw. I really have a hard time with past over-eating SAD issues and associating eating out/public eating with gorge-fest. I overeat out of stress, and I HATE that.

what? 12,000 calories?? HOW? what?
are you sure? okay, if you say so

i think that maybe your matabolism could increase. or maybe it's because your not absorbing toxic things and your digestion could be improving?

Yeah, something is up because....the food alone, IN YOU, would equal like...2 lbs...lol...well....minus the water....ehhh I dunno :)
Lucky you though!
I LOVE raw, and I feel great...but I've put on some weight since initially going raw, and I eat 1200 - 1500 calories a day. Mind, I haven't ALWAYS kept up with exercise though my raw journey, but right now I work out at least 3 hours a week, mostly cardio with some weights thrown in for good measure...and I still have a layer of jiggly fat around my body.

Medically speaking (don't you hate it when I say that?) it is impossible to register weight loss after you have had a meal. It takes about a week so what ever you ate last week registered on the scale this week. If you ate a lot of calories yesterday, you will probably see it on the scales next week.

NurseintheRaw - you're absolutely right! I woke up today quite a few pounds heavier. Darn! :P
