I wasn't crazy about the aroma in the house - it was okay though. But get this! Quite a few friends were here early this morning and were ooohing and aaahing over the smell saying "it smells so good in here" etc. "It smells like Chinese", and another said "It smells like some kind of curry recipe". Then I showed it off. The thing is I removed it from the dehydrator just now - almost 24 hrs. later! It is still very pliable- perfect for wraps or sandwiches, but not for crackers. So I am thinking that maybe I should have put the "batter" on 3 Teflex sheets instead of two?! But it is good! (see me doing a little dance - woohoo!) I cut it into squares like pieces of bread and kept 2 aside for my supper and froze the rest between pieces of waxed paper in a ziplock bag. Does that sound okay? Hope you are all having as good a day as I am. Although I was awake until 5 a.m. this morning! Can't shut the old brain off and had so much energy yesterday! I am just oozing enthusiasm for RAW FOOD:D

Good for you that it turned out good for you. I do not know what my deal is, but I have tried twice to make the onion bread and have failed. Also great with the energy and excitement you have for raw foods :)

islesgirl,

Congratulations on your onion bread success! I'm doing the happy dance with you!

Your method of storing the bread sounds fine to me.

I do resonate with you about the aroma in the house. I put my dehydrator in the finished part of our basement when I'm making the bread. If I don't the aroma keeps me awake, and not in a good way.

Your enthusiasm is contagious, and I also wanted to say that I have enjoyed connecting with you.

Take Care!

Blessings and peace,

Marcia

Once it's in the rubbery stage and you can remove it from the teflex, I put it right on the rack, so the air can really get to it to dry it out.:D

RowanC - Hi! Yes, I did remove the Teflex when I turned it over. The dehydrator has 3 layers - right? the black plastic tray, then the mesh, then the Teflex - something for which I paid extra. You didn't mean removing the mesh did you? I doubt it. Anyway, thank you so much for your input.

Marcia - Well, I never thought that there might be a connection between the smell of the bread cooking and my insomnia?! Hmm. That's a possibility. Good to hear from you and I hope you're having a fine weekend. We are just starting to get a major snowstorm in Ontario.

Oh Bobbie, that sounds yummy . I'll have to find the recipe for marinated shrooms - it must be in Alissa's book? I'll look. Thanks.

Please could you tell me where this recipe is? (For the marinade?) I couldn't figure out which one it was if it was in Alissa's book.

Thank you Bobbie:D

Nope, not the mesh, just the teflex.
It does take a long time to get crispy, but man, oh, man, it's worth it!

Okeedoke RowanC. 24 Hrs and still not crispy? Has that happened to you? But how many trays have you used? I used two. Anyway, I made myself a "sandwich" with it and had too much filling and it spilled out all over the place. Next time I'll do some kind of wrap. I wanted to have the avocado mayo with it, but it wasn't made yet. Thanks for your input.
