And what about clothing - is there a raw trend in clothing? Any tips, recommendations or personal stories?
I always liked cotton especially a little raw - not bleached - but that was 20years ago! I prefer natural fibers but I am wearing a lot of blacks and navy blue - I don't want any more black things in my wardrobe - i am thinking about something cream, vanilla, taupe.
Can i detoxify my clothing? Can i make my wardrobe more raw?

I'm sure there are lots of suggestions in this area! Here is one brand I like that is environmentally conscious and they have really cute stuff --> http://missionplayground.com/

Since going vegan a couple of years back ive made sure all my clothes are from ethical companies and dont contain anything from animals. Since going RAW, ive noticed i want to wear more BRIGHT clothes. More cheerful ones. Im young for havens sake! What was all that black and grey doing in my wardrobe? I want people to look at me!
:)
Good question!

I have added color back into my wardrobe. Although everyone says my shape is great--I feel there is still too much "pinchability" about me. Anyway--waaayyy too much black (slimming I hear) was appearing in my daily wardrobe. Now I am wearing some of the cute melon, soft blue, brown and cream so to shake it up a little. Adore lipstick (attitude in a tube) so have really been having fun lately.
Look good--feel better is a great motto.
Hope everyone is having a fantastic day.

As do some of these:

Here is a list of places that might help you on your hunt for some duds: http://www.newdream.org/consumer/cotton.php
I saw a cute soy fiber top with a hood at Lucy.com that I picked up. Very soft and has worn extremely well after 10 washings...still looks great.
I come from a long line of cotton farmers. Sustainable cotton is a great thing. Did you know we can grow it in natural colours so they don't need dye? Taupes and creams and yellows...I've even seen a robin's egg blue in fields near here. It's sure to become more common in adult clothes soon. Scads of it for babies everywhere!

Also....
Target has nice long sleeve tees that are 100% cotton for $9 right now!

The people who run rawganique ARE raw foodists.
Clothing trends for rawies: definatley HEMP, organic cotton, any natural materials NOT treated with chemicals and that are sustainable like bamboo. Fair Trade anything.

I buy whatever I think looks good on me. I don't think much of it... Maybe I should... but I have bought a couple pairs of shoes from veganessentials.com.. I also wouldn't dream of wearing leather or fur.
As for trends or 'typical' rawfoodist clothing....no, I don't like to be classified as anything based on what I wear.

I have to wait for "looks good on me" time - i know it will come soon , but in the meantime i struggle with what i am going to wear, i guess my identity changes a little - i am becaming more mature woman, i am an artist not a banker or clerk ( i never was last two but i somehow tried to be) i am green now and eco friendlier than ever, i am redefining self and not sure what to wear - i like jeans the most and cottor shirts and sweaters and some linen and hemp stuff, light colors. Slowly i will find myself again.

my rule: i only buy second-hand clothes. i love "the hunt", but i also love the low environmental "footprint" of using recycled clothing. there's so much STUFF in the world, do i really want to be responsible for creating a demand for MORE of it? which is how i feel everytime i buy new clothes. it feels ucky to me.
i've always enjoyed being creative within restricted options, its more challenging/gratifying to me. i always liked writing poetry with strict rules versus the more free form. to my mind, anyone can do free form, it takes a bit of genius to create something amazing within a regimented structure. same with clothes. given the money and the time, anyone can pull together a great outfit. you can buy style. where's the challenge in that? when you pull together a great outfit with $10, that's genius!
(i think this is also one of the things i like about raw foods prep, being creative within restricted options!)

It's happened, lol. My online organic clothing store, www.deliciousdyes.com, is now open for business. Right now I am selling Women's Organic Cotton T-Shirts. They are unbleached organic cotton, painted with natural minerals. I'm excited :D .

Maui,
Congr. on your great weight loss. Go girl. We have tons of thrift stores here and can get tons of bargains. I have Lucy and Gaiam pants I love besides looking great on the body. However, here we have stores with outrageously crazy inexpensive new items as well such as Kohl's or Ross. I still love a thrift store experience often. Nothing beats the pleasure of helping support these organizations as well.
I have 3 or 4 NEW hemp skirts to eventually sell I found at Ross. It's a toast mini skirt, brand spanking new.
Rawstrength: Best to you on your store. Online selling is something I want to do too, but more in product line like ebooks or such. Not sure totally yet. Your link at website not working and getting error msg. At this site didn't notice a way to email you directly.

Viva -- it's so uplifting to read that you are finding yourself. good for you!
not everything looks good on me myself. there are clothes that just don't work. it's either their look or what i feel they will represent for me. what clothes you choose, the look, the material, what company you buy it from, why you buy them, etc... is definitely an expression of self... as does writing poetry. :)
and ultimately, it's the naked you without all those things that really defines you. :D

I've been wanting to change my clothes since going raw, too. I've naturally been drawn towards more bright colors (why do I have all this grey and black and brown?!), even childlike clothing (bought pj's with rainbows! eek!), and white/ivory -- I guess because I associate this color with transformation; the bright colors because I feel more alive and vibrant. I'm kind of craving some more flowy, feminine stuff, but resisting it a bit 'cos everybody already thinks I'm too hippied out all of a sudden! :)
I heard an interview with raw food coach karen knowler on the rawkathon (i believe), and she said she went through a similar thing with clothes when going raw - she suddenly put more importance in how she dressed -- not in a materialistic, vain sense, but as a healthy understanding that colors and materials carry a vibrational frequency, and you want it to mirror and support your wellbeing, just as your food does. she said she went through a phase where she wore lots of black, because she was trying to dampen this down -- but then she broke on through to the proverbial other side. it's amazing to me just how pervasive the changes to our whole being and way of thinking raw creates. and how they're so similar for everybody!
also, here's a cool clip of tonya kay speaking about buying second hand stuff. it makes a lot of sense to me -- especially how she speaks about dropping out of the system altogether. I was inspired by my cousin who visited this Thanksgiving. She and her family pretty much only buy second hand stuff. I think I'm done buying new clothes for awhile. except, of course, if I buy from you, dear RS!
