My husband looked in our fridge this morning to take out his water for work and he turned around laughing. I said, "What's so funny?" He said, "Our fridge looks like big bird has moved in with all the nuts and seeds everywhere.":p
I looked in and realized our door is stocked full...the bottom shelf has some soaking! He was right.
It's so funny what becomes normal after a while and you don't give it a second thought.
I wonder what one of my non-raw friends would say if they looked in there. LOL:D
Do you guys ever have one of those raw moments?
I have two refrigerators sitting side by side. The left one is mine with all my goodies and the right one is for my sad husbands stuff. And there's only the two of us! (I had five kids at home at one time so I needed 2 then!) I hate it when he puts his stuff in MINE!

Don't you love it when the kids and hubby open the fridge and say, "there's nothing to eat" and the entire fridge is stuffed full of fruits and veges. Why do they think produce is only to look at and not eat

I laughed tonight when my youngest asked what was for dessert and I offered four different fruit choices. Her response: "Never mind!" My oldest finished off 1/2 a pineapple. Oh, my...it's usually the other way around with them, so...I'm confused. :p

We had a friend stop by who we haven't seen in about 9 months, he took one step into our kitchen and proclaimed "it smells like a jamba juice in here!"
LOL, I took that as a good thing. ( :
PS. He loved the smoothie I made for him!!!

shelshel - I lvoe it!!!
I love those funny raw food moments - the managers at my work say I eat like a little monkey - its become a sort of joke - i love that this way of eating can create humor (because we often focus on the tension) ... and the saying goes that laughter is the shortest distance between two people.

I had visitors for a weekend - my friend Ana (who wants to make her family to eat veggies) with her son 5 Mat and daughter 6 Dora. I made a green soup and was just about to serve. Mat commented: "Wow it looks like Shrek. "And if you will eat it you will be strong like Shrek" his Mom added winking to me. Dora refused to eat my soup " I don't want to be like Shrek" she said. Later I made bluberry banana shake for desert. "Dora, Dora look! if you will eat that you can be like a Donkey!" Matt exclaimed!

LOL :D It's awesome. I embrace it! Yes, I eat a lot of healthy things. It's different than most Americans, but it's a great thing...so, how can I be upset when someone is curious or questions what I'm doing?!!! It gives me an in to share how it has transformed my life.
I honestly start out with a joke. When people walk up to me and haven't seen me in a long time...they ask, "Wow, how did you lose all that weight?" I smile and say...you wouldn't want to do it. (That immediately peaks their interest and they laugh.) I explain and they say..."You're right, I wouldn't want to!"
Later, I find out they are trying to add something new...if not all raw...something. If for no other reason than...hey...it worked for me.
I find the more I'm excited about something...the more it makes me seem like a freak. (Like....oh! You just have to try this too!) So, I down play it and that just works wonders for other's response to raw. Like...I'm doing this because I want to...I'm not looking for anyone else to join in...and don't change what you're eating on my account, I'm fine eating this alone.
Pretty soon...it rubs off. It's healthy...how is that bad??? It's fun and funny! I agree...laughter is a wonderful thing. Enjoy more of it in your life...and if raw is a tool for just that, use it! Raw (((HUGS))):D

lol : )
I always expect people to comment - but they rarely do!
On the bus today I kept eating one apple after another after another - and I could feel the woman next to me stare!
My bin in work is like a compost bin - I'm thinking of taking home all my peeling because here they just go to waste!

This is not a funny story but it always makes me chuckle. How amazing is it for those of us who are coming off of a SAD diet how indocrinated (sp) we are when preparing food. In my introduction thread I said I was sooooo glad I no longer had to worry about cross contamination any more. But my brain is still so washed that the other day I was making cookies out of the leftover stuff from my nut milk. I went to taste the mix before putting it on the dehydrator to make sure it was sweet enough and I hesitated because my first thought was "Salmonella, it has eggs in it". But guess what??!! No eggs! I could have eaten it as is. Then laughing to myself I started putting heaping spoonfulls on the dehydrator and couldn't figure out why I was so short on space. Then I realized on another level of SAD brainwashing, I was spacing the cookies to allow for them to spread when cooked. Not a problem any more! I just pushed them side by side and had plenty of room and 24 hours later I had the best goji berry cookies!
BTW, my weight on June of 2007 was 246. I started 100% RAW November 12, 2007 knowing I had put on about 5-7 pounds since June. As of this morning I am at 230. Raw is great. I am still learning to plan ahead and my biggest problem is my produce spoiling. I will gladly take that over the way I felt a month ago.

Hunny,
Oh my, I guess I have the SAD state of mind too! I just realized the lemon cookies I put in the dehydrator are spaced just like I would do for baked cookies. It didn't even dawn on me what I was doing, until you mentioned it. LOL! Also the dough for the lemon cookies is so yummy, I keep sampling a cookie, and they are still dehydrating. They taste like lemon pie. I couldn't do that when I mixed cookie dough with eggs. Raw has many advantages!

hahahahaha... kids are a riot. my (vegan) daughter always wants a taste of whatever i'm having, and then when i say "would you like to have some of this?" she very diplomatically says "i REALLY like it mom, i just don't want it right NOW."
the one thing she always wants is "banana ice cream" (frozen bananas whipped up in the vitamix to consistency of ice cream...) we have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner some days (among other things of course...)

My dad made it a habit of asking my boyfriends if they eat "real food"
In his eyes, "real food" is meat *siiigh*

I completely agree. Better to be a beacon than a hammer! I play it so low key, but its like all my co-workers and close friends are proud of me and think my "weird" diet is definitely weird, but cool. They love to examine the contents of my lunch bag every day, brag about me and my freaky diet to other people ("she's lost so much weight!" "she has so much energy!" "she ate 10 apples yesterday!"), they love to taste my food (and either cringe and say 'how can you EAT that' or 'hey, that's REALLY surprisingly good!') and they are constantly pumping me for information. one co-worker started packing a snack of apples, raisins, and raw walnuts every day, and using agave in her tea and lemonade instead of sugar. another one who said she could "never give up meat not even for one day" is doing the master cleanse with her husband starting next week. i don't have to say anything, i just have to do what is right for myself without any expectations or beliefs about what anybody else should do, and I become this great ambassador for raw within my circle. its amazing to watch!
what a lesson this is for all aspects of our lives. don't assume what others should and shouldn't do. walk your own path. live your truth. people are drawn to authenticity when it is not self-righteous, self-aggrandizing, defensive, or lecturing.

Wow maui butterfly!
Can I quote you on that?
It's so true. When you are comfortable and happy with yourself in a low key way then others will accept you.
When you pursue your own true dreams doors will open for you. :)
