If you work and your Raw, don't ever leave your house without something to eat, that is what I did today and to my surprise when I got into work today, there are 2 large tables of SAD Desserts and foods, not having raw food and seeing this and knowing I've come from eating all that crap is a little bit tempting, but I sit here at my desk saying to myself, I can't eat this, this will only harm my body not give it life, even though I'm hungry I just keep reminding myself that it's not worth it. Also I can't stand a lot of sugar anymore so I know it's not a good idea, but please don't ever leave unprepared or you might be faced with failing.

I plan to go home for lunch and eat, but I will be sure to never come to work without food again, I had no idea 2 large tables of SAD foods would be starring me in the face today.

Always be prepared.

Well, what a surprise! I'm so proud of you for being strong in the face of such temptation. :D Seeing all that while you're hungry is no fun!

You're doing SO awesome though & you don't need that junk in your body! ;) Going home for lunch is a good plan! Stay strong Tanisha!!!:)

I need to keep this in mind for my hubby. I forgot about those impromptu office holiday things. Treats just appearing out of nowhere... I should make extra sure he has stuff at his desk! Thanks for the reminder!!!

I can't wait for lunch. It's funny because one part of me is like "ooh that looks yummy" and the other part is saying "no way, that will make you sick" it's funny how our mind can play tricks on us, but I got it under control.

I just got Alissa'a book yesterday and was reading it last night and today and noticed how she talked about taking some raw food with you whenever you leave the house and I was thinking- what a good idea I will have to remember that! Thanks for your re- enforcing story;) I would be sure to bring a few snacks back to work with me after lunch too:D
Good luck!!!!!

Good job!!! I learned that lesson the hard way when I first went raw. When you are raw and the hunger comes it comes in with a vengence (even worse than when I would get hungry on SAD), and you have to be prepared. Also, it's good to have something raw on hand when you are being tempted by SAD foods. I didn't know this when I first went raw. One day I became very ill because I was feeling hungry. I had eaten that morning and I thought this would be like SAD - you know, 3 meals a day and all that. So I quickly called my friend who had introduced me to raw and I told her how I was feeling. She told me NEVER, EVER LEAVE YOUR HOUSE WITHOUT FOOD!! From that day forward I never leave the house without a few pieces of fruit, some nuts and maybe some other raw treat. I haven't had a problem since then.:p

If anyone to look in my bag it would look like I was going to feed the monkeys at the zoo - at anytime I might have upto 10 clementines, 3 oranges, 4 apples, 3 pears and a bunch of celery in there!

yummy ; )

What a fantastic reminder! Thank you - I've just started carrying some trail mix with me, but I think I am going to make sure I have sweet and salty represented! Maybe some bananas, grapes or clementines ... I never thought of celery, though i bet it travels well. Thanks!

Well I'm happy to report I survived and I haven't eaten from the table of Sugars and death, I end up going out and buying a raw snack and Kombucha, that should Hold me over until Dinner.

I should have known better and I normally bring something with me but I was in a rush this morning and thought oh it's ok I'll be fine and then got to work and realized no it's not ok, so I'm going to make sure I'm prepared the night before.

Thank you for the reminder and congratulations for being strong!
Yes - preparing and taking good food is a great shield against temptations.
I Started to keep fruits at work - somehow abundance of food makes me less "hungry". It is like an assurance that there is plenty! My Mind is very visual creature:)

Hooray!!! What an awesome feeling for you! Yep, I have a snack bar and a kombucha every Saturday for lunch when I run errands. It does do for a great snack combo! You should be very proud of yourself for holding out today!

About the mind tricking us- I find lately my mind is doing what I call the "csi effect". You know, like the visual effect on tv & movies where the camera goes through something and you see what's inside the object, or person. They do it on House as well, where the camera zooms and it's like you're seeing the muscle inside the leg, or the parasite in the intestine, etc. I've seen it done in action movies where you see inside a ticking bomb and such.

Well, for the last year or so, every time I see someone cough or sneeze I have the unfortunate curse of having my own brain do that same effect- I see germs & bacteria. It's kind of funny, because I'm not paranoid or obsessive about it.

But now, when I see SAD foods, my mind goes into that mode again and sees not food, but all the things that truly make up that food. It ain't pretty! And much less than appetizing.

I'm really proud of you for sticking to what you believe, and not giving into eating that cooked junk. Good job! :)

It's also funny that you wrote this post today... I just finished making up baggies of spices, nutritional yeast and what not for salads that I have when I go out. There's always going to be a salad option at a restaurant... but not dressings/seasonings!!! I also bagged some flax seeds, and small bags of seaweed...

It seems that we were thinking along the same lines today!!

My Ziploc Snack Size Baggies (that I keep in the glove compartment of my car) have saved me countless times and one time I was even able to share it with someone to hold them over as well. I also keep these in my computer bag. So I have them in two spots. I have also learned to keep extra Ziploc Snack Size baggies in my glove compartment for the next grocery store jaunt. Once I have finished shopping at Trader Joes the first thing I do is grab my nuts and/or whatever else delicous raw treat that would mix well and portion them out right there in my car before I start the engine. I absolutely have to make sure I have these or I screw myself.

I start doing this with meat, I start imaging worms and all kinds of nasty stuff is coming out of it and actually I'm sure it does happen after it sits in our stomach for a long time. Yuck.

Love the CSI effect for SAD food imaging - I will use that as my mind is always in motion !
We can do it !

What a great thread! You have some wonderful ideas, especially of keeping some things in the glove box. That is crucial for those of us with hypoglycemia too. This time of year offers many opportunities for temptation - even the darn grocery store is loaded with more and more sad junk (and alcohol) - I sometimes put my hand up to face to pass the entire aisle in order to get to the produce - give me a break!

Have a wonderful raw day everyone ! Keep resisting that junk - raw tastes so much richer and nourishing too :)

Thanks so much for this thread. I have only been raw for about at month and a half and will be packing some ziplocks to have on hand for when I run out the door :D I was thinking sunflower or pumpkin seeds and some raisins ... hmm.

That sounds like a great snack Heather.

Well last night I stayed up until I had food ready for this morning I made Alissa's Crab Cake. Actually I brought way to much food to work today but I'm ready and prepared and I'd rather have more food then not enough.

I brought
2 Crab Cakes
1 Avocado
3 bananas
1 16 oz green smoothie
2 cups of spinach
1/2 cup of pecans
1/2 cup of raisins
1 bottle of water.

I'm all set, I did bring way to much but I'm safe now.
