Bad coconut?

I opened a young coconut last night to find no meat. It was full of water but the inside shell was brown with a bumpy texture. It smelled fine but I wasn't brave enough to taste it. Was it just not mature enough to develop meat or was it bad?

More than likely - it was way very VERY young!! I hope you didn't throw out the water :eek: !!
