I just came off of the Master Cleanse. I had mild to moderate depression before the cleanse and it completely went away on the cleanse. It was amazing! I never felt happier and euphoric in my life! I thought trying a raw food diet was so "out there" something I would never even consider since I love food so much, especially meat. However, the cleanse was so powerful for my mood that I actually began to consider raw food. I am not ready to make the full transition yet, although I am ready to seriously clean up my diet and add at least 50% or more raw food to my diet.

So I've been eating much healthier than I ever have in my life, but my depression has returned. And after feeling that incredible happiness on the cleanse, I desperately want it back, because I know theres a way to cure it through food, and therapy hasnt helped and I dont want to go on anti depressants, and all the positive thinking and meditation I do every day doesnt help as much as the cleanse. Its enough to make me just go on the cleanse again, I know its recommended 4 times a year but could you do it more? I saw a posting about the "Mood Cure" book, I was definitely going to pick it up

Could the foods I eat REALLY affect my moods this much??? I am unhappier at this moment than before I started the cleanse.

I really do believe that the foods you put into your body your mood.
What is an example of what you eat on a daily basis?

I've been eating pretty well in general this week.

Heres an example of 2 days of food

One day I did all raw. Just had a bag of trail mix, cashews, macadamias, dried pineapples and cranberries. Then salad, with lettuce, baby corn, mushrooms, tomatos and cucumbers (I felt ok this day, but nothing like the amazing euphoria on master cleanse--can any regular diet give me that feeling again?)

Yesterday was by far my worst day of food. I had a chocolate ice blended drink from starbucks and had very traditional chinese food--rice, fish fillet in hot pepper sauce, and stir fried lamb. I felt really shitty on this day.

Kind of obvious I guess that foods are affecting my mood, but I guess my real question is what can i eat to be as happy as I was on Master Cleanse?

The thing about the master cleanse AND eating all raw is that it takes the huge burden of digesting off your body. this gives your body room to use that energy to clean house and it gives you more energy to play.

easy digesting is key here. i'm studying this in university. the body has to produce so many enzymes to digest hard to digest food (there's a mouth full!) that it shuts down the other things that energy could have been used for. your emotional state can be greatly sacraficed by this energy zapping routine that happens...every time you eat!

so it's important to concentrate on foods that need little to no problem to digest, this will let you zoom! example: raw veg (especially dark greens and sprouts), fruits (for many lower glycemic is key), sprouted nuts/seeds (emphasis on sprouted - very important for proper digestion, seriously). unsprouted nuts and dried fruit can be major energy zappers. if you want to feel amazing...try green smoothies, you can really make them taste so good with the right fruit combo. so easy to digest, so cleansing and nutritious.

if you have the will power to do the master cleanse than you CAN do raw all. you have the strength. ease into it if you like, but there are so many amazing recipes and treats that it doesn't have to be too hard to try going 100% for a month or so, just to see the effects.

just try to be ohnest with yourself. ask yourself...did that plate full of dates and almond butter make me feel like i could run around the neighborhood? or did it make me feel sluggish. the goal is to feel naturally high. then you know your giving your body what it really wants AND what it can really handle.

I have been struggling with anxiety and depression my entire life. I have been following this book for 2 weeks and I swear, I already feel like a completely different person. I feel so good, I almost feel high. (but in a good way hahahah). My best friend is also doing this with me and is having the same reaction. I can not recommend it highly enough. It should be required reading for anyone with mental health issues.
