Has anyone used senna tea instead of enemas to help clenase the colon whilst fasting? I'd like to do an eight day fast but I think I'd much rather try the tea than an enema.

Yeah... I've used the senna tea.. it was okay - not my favorite though. (but it was highly recommended at the hfs where I shop). I use the Yogi 'get regular' tea or I take cascara sagrada herb -- it's a capsule you can find it in your hfs, its non habit forming and stimulates the peristaltic action of the colon.

good luck!!

I purchased Senna Pods and Psyllium Husks when planning a fast (which I never did) but was since advised that the senna may be a bit rough and that I should use the psyllium.

I've heard that while psyllium husks are gentler, they are not appropriate to use on a fast as they have to be digested by the whole digestive system.
One of my main health goals on this fast is to give a much needed rest to the digestive system, so I'm not sure that psyllium husks would help me.
I bought some of the smooth move tea, which has a blend of senna and other herbs. I start my fast tomorrow, so I'll try a glass tonight and see how it goes.
Wish me luck everyone! Experience is the best teacher, so I'll give the senna a try and report back here. Experience can also be the harshest teacher.

I used the smoothe move tea once during my 22 day fast and I didn't like it (taste- blech!) but I was NOT willing to try enemas, it made me feel nervous. So I did have colonics, and that helped tremendously. If the smoothe move tastes good to you, go for it! It did make my tummy feel a little roughed up the next morning though.

I am sipping my smoothe move tea right now. And, surprisingly . . .
I like the taste! It tastes like licorice (anise is one of the ingredients). We'll see if I like how it makes me feel.

Oh no wonder I don't like the taste, I can't stand licorice! Glad you like it, I hope it works for ya!

Well, the smooth move is no milkshake, but it does the job and I never had any distressing moments. The taste surely is not great, but the results I had doing the master cleanse were worth it. Would not hesitate to use the same product again.

Psyllium husks should be ground to a powder for gentler effect on the colon. As already stated, to give your digestive system a rest--do the tea.

Hope you have a successful cleanse.
