Hi,
I am thinking of making a move to Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) and would like to know if there are raw foodists, restaurants, groups, etc. there.

Hi! I just ran across this. I am from Edmonton, and it has a couple decent health food stores and awesome farmer's markets (particularily the one in Old Strathcona). Check the raw BC website for more information on raw events. I have not been to any, but according to the website there is a once-monthly potluck at a place called Organic Roots. Hope that helps!

Thanks! It is now official - we plan to move, probably by May. I am getting quite excited about it. We will be living in the Westridge area, over by the West Edmonton Mall. Where would those markets etc. be from there? I have a city map.

The great thing about "The Mall" is the Chinese superstore. It is an awesome place to get exotic fruits and vegtables, namely young coconuts! The Farmers' Market I go to is on 83rd Ave and Gateway Boulevard, right of Whyte Ave (one of the best places to hang out in the city). There are two Planet Organics in town - the larger one is just off Whyte as well. I don't know the address off the top of my head, but they have a website. The other great place to go is Organic Roots. It is near the University of Alberta. They have a small produce section, but a great selection of leafy greens, local, and organic produce. Their cafe area has a juice and salad bar. They are very pricey, but I go there anyways. I live in south Edmonton, so I am not super familiar with what is round the west side. I'm pretty sure there is a farmers' market of some variety, but I know it is not as good as the south side one. But, the nice thing about Edmonton is that it is no so big that you can't get around easily. It is a great place to live in the summer when there are tons of festivals and the river valley is in its full glory. Let me know if you have any more questions - I'll do my best to try to answer them!!!
