Sometimes my coffee grinder gets food smells from all the different things I put in it (nuts, cacao, herbs, sea veggies, etc. never coffee though...:p ) so I tried something to see if I could get the "smells" to go away. IT WORKED!!! So, I thought I would share. I filled the coffee grinder up with fresh baking soda and let it sit for an hour. Then I dumped it out and brushed it out. No more smells...Yay!!!

Gosh... I just wash mine. Are they not supposed to be washed...?? hmmmm... I know nothing about coffee grinders cuz I don't drink coffee - but I picked up a very inexpensive one at Wal Mart - and I use it only for nuts seeds, stuff like that... I just wash it after each use... will that ruin the coffee grinder?? aaacccckkkk....
maybe I will start using the baking soda!! thanks for posting this!

Starfire, maybe there are different kinds. Mine is a Krups like this one:

I can wash the lid in the top shelf of the dishwasher, but the base (where the stuff goes) can't get wet.
Hope that helps!
