Aerogarden?

I saw an Aerogarden where you can grow your herbs and vegtables right in your kitchen all year round and it requires no dirt. Does any one have one of these and do you like it? It runs about $150.00 and I want to ask for one from my husband for Christmas. What do you all think? I don't have much of a green thumb so I thought this was pretty foolproof for someone who has no idea about gardening.

Hey! I was wondering about those too. They sell them at Target around here for $149.99, and I'm REALLY Curious.
I've seen the informercial, and if it's really that simple (and that small of a unit!) I WANT ONE for indoor herbs!!!!

funny, i got online to ask that question. i want to buy one this weekend. i'm so ready to start gardening because it's costing me a grip for all the veggies and fruits i'm eating and for my family(organic only). so i decided to grow some of the veggies to same money.

I suggest the earthboxes if you have the room. It is amazing how many plants one needs to make a real dent in a food bill. Two places to get thme are:

AGardenPath is a little cheaper. I prefer the earthboxresearch one because they have one piece contruction and a watering system I can buy to automatically fill up the boxes. I can also drive to the company here in Florida and save on postage.

I asked for one of these for christmas and after some research I am having second thoughts. The seed packs for these are expensive to the tune of $20.00 a box. One of the reasons for me wanting this would be to save money as well as growing my own healthy herbs, and food. Also there are a few different models of them and to do cherry tomatoes well you have to have the unit that the head adjust higher and the basic model that bed, bath and beyond sells doesn't adjust higher.

I am still open to more feedback though if anyone has one of these and likes it.

From what I've read, it looks like they don't recommend mixing and matching the seed kits as each seed type needs a specific setting, water cycle, and nutrient mix. I was hoping to buy one unit to grow salad greens and some herbs, but it doesn't look like that is going to work. Tomatoes are out of the question for, as it has been pointed out, they require a totally different setting.

I was debating whether I should buy an Excalibur dehydrator or the Aerogarden and I decided to go with the latter as my cheapie "donut" Ronco dehydrator still does its job. But I think I'm going to wait a few more months to buy the Aerogarden. Based on a few answers on the FAQ page on the official website, I have a feeling that the manufacturer is still in its infancy stage and that there are newer, better models in the pipeline. If they don't release anything new by Easter, I think I'm going to go ahead and get one. I've never had any luck with conventional gardening anyway. This could very well be my only shot at growing something.
