So sparkling/carbonated water is okay to drink? I have always kind of wondered about that - if they have to add something to the water to make it sparkle or if it is just the way it is processed. I tried googling it, but haven't found many good explanations of how it is done.

sparkling water is made two ways,
either you push C2 through it, which is a gas -- this is how they make soft drinks
or you add carbon to it. This is how they make champagne
or at least that is what the guy trying to sell me the machine told me a few years ago, when I used to drink Pepsi.
I used to love pepsi, cafeine free, although I refused to drink diet because of the aspertame in in.
And I KNEW in my heart that I was totally addicted to "something" in it, even caffeine free, so I decided to NOT indulge anymore, I think somehow the carbonation is addictive, because I had this big ritual around it, it had to be Ice cold, and fresh, it couldn't sit around and let the bubbles die down, and it couldn't be just coolish, it had to be Ice cold. on chipped ice, and alot of it.
Like one of those horrible Big Gulp things.
I can't even believe that I used to drink those things.
Anyway, enough rambling.

Also if you get pellegrino or perrier (or of that standard) its natural from the minerals in the french ground.....so it can be natural! But I use the non natural LIGHTLY carbonated la croix canned fruit "essenced" waters also ,they contain no juice or artificial flavors ,its more of a distilling like process ,and only VERY subtly flavored.....but the natural stuff is probably better
Yep, both San Pellegrino and Perrier are naturally carbonated.
I once spent a few weeks in a nature preserve in the jungle in Guatemala and there was a natural sparkling spring. Soaking in that fizzy, cold water was the most refreshing way to perk up after a hike in this beautiful, sweltering place.

Has anyone tried Izzi (or Izzy)- it's just sparkling water and fruit juice. I love the grapefruit and the blackberry ones.

VV,
How do you make the ginger juice? I would love to try this. I used to love cream soda and it sounds like if I left out the mint, it would be a good substitute.

Yeah ,I have tried it w/o the mint (when I first came up w/the idea) and it tasted great!!!
actually I didnt even use the ginger then ,but it adds a nice "zing" -you just cut peices off and run them through the juicer.......I have a juiceman -but Im sure the "crushers" (like greenstar) will work too!
The first one I tried was like this : 1 cup of water , 2 tbsp agave and one tbs of vanilla extract (isnt raw) ...but then I sarted adding and "rawafying" it and it turned out great!
Try it and tell me ow it is :)

The first time I made sparkling raw juice was with kiwi.
I just mixed the water with freshly juiced kiwi.
It was yummy.
Although the isture separated if I let it sit too long.

I am going to try this. The other night I was a little dehydrated and craved a soda, I finally broke down and had a pepsi (didn't taste that great) followed by 2 huge glasses of water. I think I just wanted the fizzy to clean my taste buds. We are going camping and my DD and I were planning what to bring for 6 kids ages 3-13 as well as the grown ups. I will NOT be packing my juicer but I can juice some things to mix with the carbonated water while there. Thats for the great idea. :D
