Greetings,

I was hoping that some of the older/wiser/experienced raw guru folks could help me out:)

Which nuts/seeds can be substitued for others? Meaning, if you are making a recipe and can't locate a certain nut, what could you use instead? Can I use Brazil nuts in place of cashews? Etc...

This would help me out tremendously......

Thanks!!

Hey there. Yep, you can definitely replace any nut with another in recipes.
Also, sunflower seeds are excellent to use.

So, I can use sunflower seeds as a relpacement for any nut? Do I use the same amount?

Also, does that mean that it is the nut texture and not the taste that matters in the recipies or are there some nuts that are "better" substituions for others?

Thanks so much! I have been totally raw now for over a month and LOVING it:)

Thanks soooo much!

some nuts that exchange well (in my experience):

Cashews = pinenuts = macadamias (these all have short soak times, and tend to be softer for puddings, milks, etc...)

Brazil nuts = almonds = hazelnuts (longer soak times, tend to be more brittle for crackers, crusts, etc...)

Hope this helps a little!
