When: June 9th (thursday)
How long: 10-15 days ( I hope)
Where: I am located in toronto, but you could be ANYWHERE! :)
Why: To get healthy (ok ok to lose weight for the summer)
So this will be my first try onthe MC or any cleanse/fast for that matter. I am very self diciplined but have doubts with my ability NOt to eat. I love food!
I would love some support.
Why June 9, well I run and have a race on the 5. The worst day is supposed to be the 4th then the 7th - We can stay home fro work on the forth (sunday) and if need be call in sick on monday! ;)

Wow, I've been thinking about doing a fast, normally go to a retreat to do this but they get pricey...plus I have to go away..I would love to try this with you, the timeline sounds great! I'm not sure I could do ten days, but I'd at least like to try a week.
Have you read the book? I've done juice fasting but not the master..I understand why the lemons but am not quite clear as to why the maple syrup...is this just for glucose? Anyone know?

I have the newest edition of the book. He syas the syrup is for minerals. He says it has all the minerals we need.
I am not substituting ANY of the ingredients!

I want to go at least 10 days - that's what the book says AT LEAST 10 days, and if your tongue is not pink to continue till it is!!

Hubby and I started the master cleanse today, wish us luck! He is a very SAD eater so I am hoping this will really help to cleanse out his system.
I am full of energy (so far!) and just did an hour aerobics class, hour Yoga class, and another hour on the treadmill. Love the lemonade and I called hubby at work and he likes the taste of it and all the guys are asking him about what he is drinking! I told him that while the guys may have never heard of it many of their wives probably have, maybe he can start a new trend at work!

I want and need to do this but am skeptical because I can't not work for ten days...anyone have some light to shed on working while fasting? I have done fasts before, but they were at retreats and I just slept all day. I was juice fasting and it's all I had the energy for, though I forced myself to do some of the lymphatic cleanse exercise classes.

There are ways to do the Master Cleanse while working. It is a good idea to drink the salt water at least 2 hours before needing to leave the house in the mornings. That leaves enough time to get most everything out so you don't have to worry about rushing to the bathroom somewhere away from home. Then you just have to figure out how you will make your lemonade for the day. It is best to make each drink fresh, but it is ok if you have to make a whole pitcher up in the mornings and then take enough to drink at work. You should not feel tired on this cleanse. I have always had alot of energy while doing the Master Cleanse. Some fasts and cleanses leave you feeling tired and wanting to sleep all day, but this one does not. Every body handles things differently, but from what I have read and experienced it is the norm to feel very good while on this cleanse.

I plan on working during the MC as well, if I have to call in sick a day or two - I will!
I have also heard that ppl do not feel tired, but energetic!
I look forward to the experiement, and have promised myself a reward if i am able to complete it 10 days!
No, It's NOT a food reward, I'm gonna get my belly pierced!
ONLY if I make it though!!

ALLRIGHT...I visted lemonadediet.com today, and I bought some 32 oz bottles, the booklet, and the laxative tea...I am ready! Now I just have to decide if I want to include the cayenne...I'm really not supposed to eat any nightshades...but I think I will try it.
I may do green juices in the morning, and the lemonade diet all day. Just for variety. But I am ready!
I can't really call in sick because I'm an independent contractor...but I can rearrange my schedule...
reward is a good idea...I think I will buy myself a new swimsuit :D

I don't think the green juice in the morning is a good idea - See the 10 most common mistakes ppl make - it's in the book!
Mistake #1 - Not following the cleanse EXACTLY!

Just wanted to check in... we made it for 3 days which is what we thought we'd do this first time. We have social stuff going on tomorrow so that influenced our decision to just go through Sunday!
I will definitely do this again and for a longer amount of time. What did I learn?? That I NEED to use a laxative tea for sure! We also got headaches the first day, either lack of food, no caffeine for hubby, and it was sooo hot here and we haven't gotten used to that yet this year.
Tonight we are having fruit and probably some banana "ice cream" later on. I have to also say I love the flavor of the lemonade so drinking it was not a problem. And it wasn't long enough for us to feel any real effects (negative) from trying this.
I will be watching to see how everyone else does!

Hey ! I think I will join too! Im going to go for 5 days ,and Im NOT using maple syrup ,but I will take a vitamin ,and use raw agave - maple syrup makes me feel ill !

I have psoriasis...and have been following a protocol called "Healing Psoriasis" by a chiropractor John Pagano...who got his protocol from Edgar Cayce, who is considered the father of holistic medicine...It has been working fairly well for the most part, I've cleared up a lot, but I seem to have plateuaed the past month or so ...so I thought the cleanse would help...I am also an actress and my agent (yikes!) has requested pics of me in a bikini :confused: ...I still have a little bit of rash on my thighs and a few lbs, maybe 5-10 to lose....so I thought the cleanse would help in both areas.
The problem is; his protocol forbids all nightshades, of which all peppers belong to. His other recommendations are good, mainly he touts a high alkaline diet of which raw of course wins the prize in...cooking lowers alkalinity...SO I have been doing raw without peppers or tomatoes...I'm scared of flaring if I am indeed sensitive to nightshades; I have made the drink a few times and it seems to be ok with my system, but quantities is a different story...I guess I'll try it , and if I react, I guess I could subsitute something...garlic maybe? anybody know?
PS...FYI, I found out yesterday that cayenne increases the effectiveness of other herbs...I took some with some skullcap ...and boy, did I get sleepy! :p
I will read the pamphlet. I ordered it, I'm waiting for it now. But I think there was also an interview posted on that same website where this guy whose done 124 fasts or something said he's done this; green in the morning and lemonade all day, I thought it would add some extra nutrients....but hey, the lemonade tastes better to me, I find it delicious so I'd actually rather do that..I just know, green drinks are VERY detoxifying (I've gone to OHI twice)
I'd love to pm! That'd be great! I warn you though...when I fast, I feel like I'm dying half the time LOL :p It's worth it at the end though...it's so hard though I need all the support I can get :o I think helping you could take my mind off of it though ;)

AS a prelude I am doing Fredrique Patenaud's "summer cleanse"
Only produce is eaten - NOTHING else!
But you can eat as much as you like!
I hope we can all post regularly while in the cleanse - I need all the support I can get!!!

Stanley, the inventor of the MC says to follow his cleanse EXACTLY. From what I can see it involves:
The lemonaid - lemon, maple syrup, water, cayenne - as much as you want
The salt water flush - every morning
Laxative tea - every night
Mint tea - on occasion
According to my book if you put anything else into your mouth, you will end up with cravings and drive yourself bonkers!!

I started today! I had to start late due to a stressful work situation - and I was waiting for the bottles so as to take the lemonade with( I STILL haven't received them) - but I am tired of waiting so I started TODAY! THis marks the end of day one - KNOCK ON WOOD, but I feel - OK! No headache or anything just a bit of sinus trouble but it's a big year for allergies here anyways- now where is my neti pot when I need it? :p How are you doing?
I'm determined to make it all ten days, hopefully to look and feel great for my bro's wedding and those pics for my agent :)

I'm at the end of day 5!
Day 3-4 were very hard - I was craving, day 4 I was hungry! I had 20 lemonaids!!! BUT NO FOOD!!
Day 5 is MUCH better
I was not hungry all day.
Around dinner time I was craving but not hungry!
this is the time I usually binge, yes every day!
So it's great fo me to see that I have control!!!
I made 4 glasses of lemonaid and drank it while I prepared dinner for my daughter!
I've had 12 today
I also went to the gym (first time since on MC)
I did 30 min weights
30 min cardio
doing weights was good, but I felt my legs were tight during cardio!
Will move ahead to day 6-7-8...until my tongue turns pink!

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away... :p LOL
I'm laughing because yesterday, (day 1) I felt nothing - no hunger, no detox symptoms, nothing - then OMG, today was...let's just say it was detox-ful! I couldn't get all the saltwater down, only half, so I drank a cup of smooth move senna tea like the book recommends as a substitute (they have chocolate flavored now ! :) ) I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but I have visited the bathroom no less than 20 times today - for both #'s - I'm dead serious - then I had a hot flash bout followed by severe chills - I got drowsy and dizzy twice so I took two mini power naps. I still made it through my hour and a half Iyengar Yoga class though! And I'm on my way to the gym to walk on the treadmill and sit in the sauna.
Luckily I've fasted before (on veggie/fruit juices) so I know that these symptoms are just a sign that it's working - it's never been this bad though :cool: (Guess that's why they call it the "master" cleanse! :p Although I am functioning better and way less dizzy then I was on green drinks; I think the sugar in the syrup is a good thing for me...
WOW! 20 glasses! That's a lot! Since I am also trying to reduce, I am trying to keep mine down to ten - 2 tblsp of MS = 100 calories...I normally should consume about 1200 calories so I figured this way I can expect to drop a few -not that I normally count calories, but I needed to go off of something; I was clueless about how much to drink! Yesterday I had about 10 we'll see how I do today/tomorrow.
I'm also producing a lot of mucous, so I busted out the neti pot today and flushed my sinuses. I felt a lot better.
How did your race go?

Remember the first 3 days are the worst!
Although say 4 was teh hardest for me!
It is the morning of say 6!
days 1-4 were difficult because I didnt; know what to do with myself! I was craving and looking..but did not cave!
Day 4 I had 20 lemonaids - I was hungry!
Day 5 was great - no hunger, well maybe some rumbling but only once! had 12 glases!
I also did a P&B shake.
See how this goes today - I did this because my eliminations are pretty much all water. I figure since I'm putting myself through this I may has well clean as much as I can!
I went to work out yesterday
30 min weights
30 min cardio
is this OK?
I've read that when fasting you should be "still"
My tongue is coated but not a lot - I hope it gets pink soon...I will stay on the MC until it gets pink, my max number of days will be 21, but hopefully sooner, I MISS FOOD!!!
I have lost 7 pounds, using the regular amount of syrup. I hope it's not all water weight. My body fat % has however remained the same...I think I am losing muscle!! YIKES!!!
I will be doing a juice fast for 5-10 days after the MC to repleminsh my system with the best possible nutrients.
Do you think I should do probiotics as well?
This is my first MC and my first fast.
I learned about P&B and probiotics from colon cleansing board. IS there anything else I may be interested for total colon cleaning? (I WILL NOT DO ENEMAS!!)

i did a few days of the master cleanse and i wish i could have done it longer but due to the salt flush (wholy cow :eek: ) i can't have that happening on the train or at work.... so if i do i have to on my day off which is 2 or 3 days a week. so cleansing when i can is better than nothing at all. if i had several days in a row where i was free ohhhhhh lets say 4 hours or so in the morning i would be fine. that flush for me was somthin let me tell you!!!! scarry stuff :o

well, thank goodness I work from home during the days now ...because my "flush" lasted ALL day...even when I went to the gym at 9:30 pm I had to pull off the road and use the restroom at the bookstore!
Today I'm just going to use the laxative tea and see what happens. I think the combo of both was a bit much...
it's strange, I feel less hungry in the mornings.
I was wondering about probiotics too - I want to drink some Kombucha tea - I know the booklet says no pills , though. Stanley Burroughs didn't believe in them.
I have heard exercie is important during a cleanse - it moves the lymph and helps flush the toxins out faster - the important thing is not to overdo it and rest when you need to. IE instead of doing my regular advanced cardio barre class, I did half an hour of light walking last night. BOy was I hungry when I got home though.

Ya the SWF needs about 2 hours to work out of you. I take it right B4 I go to work, it takes about 30-40 min to gat to the end of your colon. So by the time I need the bathroom I'm safe!!
Yes it's normal to have a sort of BUTT PEE that is dark yet bright yellow with bits a pieces of poop in it. I didn't like the fact that my colon was not being cleansed enough! Hell if I'm going to forego good, I better have some results!!
Part 2 of previous post - day 6
So last night I took 2 tbs of bentonite clay and physillium!
This morning I did the SWF.
Not until 6pm. I regretted taking the B&P since I was butt peeing the last 3 days and now I was constipated!!!
So I went to the gym today and did nothing but the sauna for about 20 minutes. Just lied there, then I had a warm and finished with a cool shower.
Driving home I felt like I just had sex! I even had to tell a friend!
I was soooo relaxed, and my joints felt so loose - relaxed - I was kinda buzzed..It was great!
I never do the sauna thing, but I highly recommend it!!
6:15 - finally an elimination!!!
and a GREAT one!!
It was poop! like the ones you see on the web sites - corkscrew shape! I even saw MP in there! - No I do not collect my shit - that nasty, but I do look in the bowl!!
It's nice to see results after 3 days of butt pee!
I recommend B&P as well!!!
What a motivation to continue!!!!!!

I just read somewhere that P&B should NOT be taken during the cleanse, because the Physillium takes a long time to work its way down our bowels and may cause constipation....the SWF will just defeat the purpose or worse cause a stroke cus it will not be able to be eliminated!
What do you's guy's think??
It's day 8, It's just getting easier and I am more determined to continue as the days go by!
Day 1-4 were challenging, day 5 was hell - cravings!!!
But since day 6 it's been SMOOTH SAILING!
of course I look at yummy food and miss the taste, but its GREAT to know that I actually have CONTROL!!! In the past I had NONE!!
I can;t wait to begin my juice fast
and then move on to 100% raw for the summer!!!

I was going to go 21 days but will stop at 14.
I will begin my juice fast on thursday
I felt really good throughout most of the fast after day 5.
My tongue is still white but the edges are pink and smooth - it this the beginnings of it turning pink? I cannot believe how toxic I am, I thought for sure it would be pink by now!
I was my old self with boundless energy. Now I feel weak. I think that my body needs nutrients and since the MC is really a mono juice fast, I'm going to incorporate fruit and green juices instead. I will do the SWF maybe every 2 days and in between do P&B shakes. What do you think??
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THE ABOVE?!!
I plan to go 10 days on the juice which will bring my total fast time to 24-25 days. Or I may just go 20. Will see what my body wants since I have to return to marathon training ASAP!!!
My stomach is now concave (above the belly button) - it looks kinda gross actually - too skinny! But I'm glad I'm doing the fast cuz now I know that to get rid of my little pot belly (below the belly button) I'm going to have to do lipo, unless of course it's just my physiology. My celulite is almost all gone.
I am, 5'8" 120lbs

It will be interesting to see how and when I gain the weight back..

Ok, so I'm really curious as to how your master cleanse went? I've printed off the instructions and am planning on starting one on July 4th. I thought 'independence' day was sooooo appropriate. I've never done anything like this before in my life so I'm a little, no a lot, worried about what this is going to be like. Any tips, any warnings? :eek:

Today is day 14 - I'm done.
I could have gone longer but I have to start training for a marathon in September!
Reading about the hair loss also scared me - I cannot afford to lose ANY hair since it's thin on top as it is!!
My tongue was in the process of turning pink - but not there yet.
I was at my end of school year department picnic and had about 2 pints of strawberries and a bunch of grapes - felt good - but then certinatley felt the energy that goes into digestion.
When I got home I had 2 LARA BARS - these are delish - 100% vegan RAW - you can buy them at WHOLE FOODS. I had the choco - moli and the coconut chocolate. They are made from dates, nuts, and carob powder.
Feel good - LOTS OF ENERGY!
Can't wait to return to my hour spin class tomorrow!!
I will do a SWF tomorrow morning!
I did go to the grocery store and bought a BUNCH of oranges and grapefruits for the next 2 days.
I also bought some kale, chard, romaine, beets...to start my green juicing on Saturday.
I NEED ADVICE NOW PH-LEEZE!!!!

I read that you should have about 3-4 a day but start slow...

I have lost weight!! I now weigh 118 lbs - I'm 5'7"!!
I cannot remember being this light!! I LOVE IT and wish I could remain this weight forever!!! ( I look awesome and if I keep around 120 I can RUN FASTER TIMES IN DISTANCE - when running a marathon every extra pound takes minutes off you r finish time!!
I will continue my training and see what happens... I just think my body likes being 130lbs...we shall see.
I will hang out here some more, but will also be spending time in the juice fasting thread.
