I have never fasted before and today I am going to try to do one day fast of just water, juice and green smoothies only. So my question is can I exercise today?

Sure! I excercised during my entire fast, just had to take it down a notch, especially if I felt detox symptoms.

why not fast on your off day? this way you can better monitor your fast.

In my exp, excerising makes fasting more difficult because you require even MORE calories. I have done 2 longer fasts (many short fasts). I did one last year for 28 days and I ran 4 miles each day, did an ab workout and got on the elliptical for 40-60 min. It was BRUTAL. I wasn't fasting as much as I was starving, ya know? I fasted again this Oct for 34 days and I took it easy. I went for a walk or hike, but only did light activities and rested whenever I felt I needed to. It was so EASY this time around. Your exp may be different, just wanted to add my 2 cents.

okay -- maybe it's my age... or maybe it's cuz i'm out of shape anyway... but I guess I'm the whimp in the group!! http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s43/FireStar_830/babysmiley.gif
When I fast - I take it really easy on my body. I find if I try to work out - I don't do very well, I feel weak, I get heart palpitations, I get whinney ( )!!
I know when Morn fasted she exercised - so maybe she will chime in here too!...
but like I said - even with the grueling workouts with hula -- I'm still not in what I would call 'in~shape' by any stretch of the imagination...
follow your body - and listen to the signs and what it's saying.... You'll be fine!

When I fast I exercise...but granted we all have bad days. So as Star Fire said ... listen to your body. Some days I have energy...bouncing off the walls. That's a good day to work out. Other detox days, I'm slow, tired, weak. I rest on those days. For the most part..I have more energy on a fast over any eating day... but once again that all depends on detox.

When I am juice feasting I like to exercise because I am getting food nutrients from the juice but when I am water only fasting I prefer to get as calm as possible and rest as much as possible as I view water only fasting as a healing time where the energy saved from not having to digest foods is used by the body to heal itself.

Hi friends, I am about 80 pounds overweight and have developed many health problems as a result. I generally follow a healthy diet and I exercise. I want to lose weight, but when I diet, I feel bad. I get bad headaches and feel dizzy, and I sometimes feel nauseous or confused. I have tried many diets and on every diet, I either feel so terrible that I have to give up, or I don't lose weight. Do other people get this? What causes this? What should I do about it?
