 I found this thread had already been started back in Sept., and found it very interesting that some of you had mentioned 'Vitex' to help w/infertility. I'm thinking of trying it out myself, but not sure if its ok to use w/Maca.
I looked it up on the internet and it said to not take w/other hormone therapies....which i'm currently taking Provera (7days) to start my period. But does that mean, i can start vitex day 8, when i'm done w/provera?
And what about Maca, since its suppose to help in balancing hormones??

Any suggestions/ideas/advice would be much appreciated!

Thanx so much!

I can't help you with your question.

I too am on the waiting list for being a mommy

Awhile back I came across a women who was a naturalpath doctor. She recommended that I go back on raw foods (greens to assist with feeding my cells aka nutrients to feed the baby and fruits to assist with detoxing/cleansing aka creating a healthy womb for baby). For ME, she recommended that I take Evening Primrose Oil. Google 'Evening Primrose Oil Infertility.' I've got my own set of health issues and hubby has slow swimmers. When reading up on EPO this is to help with the 'good' mucus, that allows the sperm to travel up in the womb. This should ONLY be taken from menstruation to ovulation.

Prior to meeting up with this doctor I was getting acupuncture and was adviced I NEEDED meat in my diet. So I ate it! The sad part is when your getting desperate and someone tells you a 'for sure way to get pregnant' you put on running shoes. The naturalpath doctor made some good points as to why acupuncture isn't for everyone... For one, she mentioned their culture diet is/was mainly rice and fish (way back when). So the DNA of generations and generations is relatively healthy~~compared to the SAD diet of our fore fathers. Which is why RAW would be ideal for me, so it can clean out the toxins I created and my DNA (which stores bad eating habits from generations ago).

As every woman with child will tell you... when its your divine time, its your time. Keep smiling your way through every baby shower you attend ~as I do.

p.s. I had IVF last year. I had a miscarriage with twins last Novemeber 2006. As 'fate' would have it I ovulated on my anniversary date of my miscarriage, last month. And with a Greek tradegy ending... I tested POSITIVE for PREGNANT (TOOK TONS OF PICS. This was the ONLY time I ever saw this!) on day 7 after ovulating. Days 9 and 11 I tested 'Not Pregnant.' There is a divine plan for both you and I! Stay positive.... (I know easier said than done at times.) Good luck to you. Your little miracle will be here soon enough!

Hi, I only have a sec but this is my "specialty" so had to respond. I'e used herbs and natural methods to get pregnant successfully, 3 times. Maca is a food and does not have any chemical effect like medication would. Vitex is an herb, it is perfectly safe to take them together. If you want to hit all bases as far as fertility herbs go, you can take maca, vitex and red clover. When you get pregnant you may want to take red raspberry leaf and nettle leaf throughout your pregnancy. Those herbs have been a huge blessing for my pregnancies. I've got to go and do a few things, but if you want more info I'm sure doing an internet search would bring you a few sites about them.

Hi... i have pcos and while im still on my allopathic medication (bc pill & spironolactone) im trying to transition onto herbals and so my ND has put me on a chasteberry (vitex) tincture, as well as a PCOS herbal mix tablet including saw palmetto.... she said it was fine to take at the same time as the meds. i use maca often, and copiously :) lol

Hey I've heard a lot of success stories with people getting pregnant after doing Bikram Yoga - it works on circulation (to reproductive organs and in general) and balancing hormones. The third posture of the series "eagle pose," is meant specifically to target the reproductive organs - and the benefits from that posture are amplified by the entire series.

I realize there are many different stories about different magic pills that work ... and that you may be skeptical of this. I would be if I were you, it's just that I've seen it first hand, and it doesn't involve pills or anything. Plus you would get in some good exercise and accelerate any detox that you're already experiencing (bikram yoga involves a 90 minute class performed in 105 F degree heat). Bikram Choudhury (the man who developed the system) recommends going about 3 times a week to feel and see results - and 60 days continuous yoga to really see a change your body and your mental state.

I am really sorry to hear that conceiving has been a challenge for you, I bet that's been really tough to deal with. And I hope I haven't offended you with my suggestion, I bet many people often tell you of a new solutions that you should "totally try." I guess I'm just trying to offer information about something that may help. good luck, I look forward to hearing more about your journey!

Love, Hannah

taking vitex is how we concieved our ds. I wasn't even ovulating on my own until I started it. The next cycle we ovulated and were pregnant, but had an ectopic. I stayed on the vitex and when we had recovered and were allowed to try again, we were pregnant the first cycle. I have two bottles of it waiting to use if I need to when we want to TTC again. It's great stuff!

I'm guessing you wish to help with fertility? In other words become fertile?

I had a client who has having problems getting pregnant. We did yoga together and she did get pregnant!

Qigong should help as well as it gets the natural flow and rhythm of the body going.

I got pregnant unexpectedly and against all the odds (I had an IUD which had been effective for many years and was properly checked etc) after my husband had started taking vitamin E tablets!

Can you take Vitex as a tonic or should you wait to actively try and get pregnant?

I'm just learing about vitex myself, so not really sure bout taking it as a tonic.....all over the bottle it says its used in helping women balance hormones, so if u need any help in that area, i'm sure its good to take!
It was alittle confusing going into the hfs and seeing all the different brands and it also comes in a liquid form as well. So i asked the girl that worked there and she recommended since i havent taken it before to start out w/the smaller dose (pill form) and if i dont see a difference i can go to a stronger one. She even said how well it worked for her in balancing out her cycles, but she took the stronger dose! So i'll finish this bottle and see what happens!

Hello Everyone,
This is my first post, but I have been lurking for years. I just wanted to add to the discussion.

Raw is great for fertility challenges, because it cleanses a toxic body and floods it with much needed nutrients.

I copied the excerpt below from an article, I found a few months ago.
"Women consuming 10g of flaxseed per day experienced longer menstrual cycle length, increased progesterone-to-estrogen ratios, and fewer anovulatory cycles, all of which were considered to reflect improved ovarian function."

Also, I have read several testimonial over the past two years, of women eating sweet potatoes everyday and becoming pregnant. The sweet potatoes are suppose to increase progesterone or ovulation. Scientific data state sweet potatoes do not contain progesterone.
Sweet potatoes are good source of beta carotene and other nutrients, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to try.

I would try the flaxseed and sweet potatoes for 3 to 6 months, while eating raw to detox and flood my body with nutrients.

Adding cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale and cabbage will help detox excessive estrogen.

I read Kelp and magnesium are good for thyroid support.

All plant base fiber is awesome, but the fiber found in whole grains and beans help keep circulating estrogen in the blood low and rid the body of excessive amounts of estrogen through bowel movement.

The liver detox estrogen from the body. That's all I know about the liver, so my next Amazon purchase is The Liver-Cleansing Diet by Sandra Cabot. The author is not raw, but I am hoping to get some great information. This book has 51 reviews and 4.5 stars.

What was the dosage that you took? or the brand?

I have a bottle where the pills are 225 mg.... its 0.5% agnuside (not sure if that matters)..I was taking 3 pills a day...so far, nothing...but I'm sure when the time is right...it will happen :)
