View Full Version : Broccoli in a Smoothie?

So I want to incorporate more broccoli in my diet, but I used to always eat it steamed... I don't like really how it tastes raw so my question is, has anyone tried mixing broccoli into a green smoothie?

Any recommendations on what to mix it with to make it yummy?

I don't think I can be of much help because I love raw broccoli. Lately I have been making a broccoli salad, where I top cut up broccoli with chopped almonds, hemp seeds, a little mustard dressing and lots of lemon juice. I love lemon juice.

I don't see why it wouldn't work in a smoothie.

Hmmm maybe I should try with a different dressing.... I absolutely love cooked broccoli, so I don't know why I don't like it raw.. but I need to get it in my diet because it's so dang good for you!! Thanks for the advice... maybe I'll try it how you prepared it! :) and I think I'm going to try it in a smoothie tonight.

I don't like raw broccoli either. I have been making a smoothie with it. Here is what I have been making.

1/4 C water
3 C grapes (I use 1 1/2 or 2)
1/2 C cucumber
1/2 C peas (I use frozen)
1 stalk celery
1/2 C Broccoli (I use 1 C)

I think it taste great.

Here is another one...

1/4 C water
1 medium tomato
1 carrot
1/2 C broccoli (I use more)
1/2 C ice
I add a little sea salt.

Very good. As with all smoothies (except fruit) I think it takes getting used to. I hope you like these. ;-)

I also LOVE raw broccoli with some salsa & Guacamole on it.

Yes,

I put broc in my green smoothies at least once a week. I always put kind of whatever in it. that is why I love green smoothies because I can put greens, etc.. into them to get them into my diet.
