Hello my name is Chet and i'm new here. I'm a Daddy of two (5 & 6 years old). I have been partially raw for years without realizing it as i love to eat raw veggies, salads, green smoothies, fruits, nuts and seeds along with other healthy cooked food. I recently discovered the raw lifestyle through one of my health forums that i visit daily. I had no idea a raw lifestyle existed until late 2006. Lately i've been researching this lifestyle and have come to the conclusion that it's probably the healthiest lifestyle there is with one caveat and that is that raw vegan may be deficient in vitamin b12. With that in mind, i think nothing can top raw vegan nutrition. It's probably not too hard to push my percentage of raw food consumption up since i already love veggies and other raw food. My only problem is that i'm the cook in the family and i have to prepare cooked food for them. Then the other thing is that i don't know too many raw recipes and that is why i'm here. For now i will continue to eat salad and make smoothies and visit Go Raw Cafe once or twice a week.
My favorite raw food:
young coconut, avocado, pomegranate, berry smoothie with Vitamineral Green, salads, salsa, dips and all fruits.
Food that i won't give up:
hot tea! dark chocolate and my supplements.

hey~ and welcome!
i'm new to RFT also--- and mommy to a 4year old! her & i both try to live it raw! *me more so than her* but the recipes are so helpful in making fun raw treats for kids --- when i first started with some serious determination to be raw, i just took anything that looked good and put it in a blender --- with an avocado and almond milk base --- anything becomes pudding!
good luck & HAVE FUN!!!

Aloha StarFire!
I've tried the search and it's not the most user friendly tool. I put in "salad dressing" and about 20 pages of threads came up. I guess i will have to take some time to weed through it all on the weekends when i'm off. I have put Alissa's book on my xmas wish list. If i don't get it, i will just buy it myself.
Those recipes sound yummy esp the donut holes.

hey Melihhc
my kids love the smoothie i make but they will not touch it if it looks green lol I know kids are more willing to eat the food when you get them involved. it's a bit more messy but they have fun in the process.
hope you have the best day ever

Welcome to the board, Chet!
regarding the search function, I am assuming, please correct me if I'm wrong, that you may have missed the scroll menu under the field to enter your search (in the advanced search) if you select "search titles only" as opposed to "search entire thread" you will get fewer than 20 pages, at least, I hope! ;)
Once again, welcome, and have a blast!!

Welcome Chet ... its good to have you here! The searching tools become easier to work with over time (at least I've become more efficient at finding what I am looking for) - there is even a post about feeding raw kids - you can check it out here: http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=9872&highlight=raw+kids+recipes
Hope that helps!,

We were that way for a while, he came around on his own. I just shared info along the way. :) I think not pushing it on him helped. Everyone's so different though.
And that link Alisha provided (goneraw) is so great, I have checked that one out as well and found some good looking stuff. I really like to be able to read what others have thought of a recipe, which is one reason I love it here!
