Two yummy recipes that I have invented. They are both 99% raw. The first recipe includes a bit of agar agar, which isn't raw but it's seaweed so I'm not really that worried about it. The second recipe has nutritional yeast, which I eat as it is the only source of B12 which I currently have at my disposal. Anyway both are delicious so enjoy them!
Macadamia Strawberry Pie
1 cup walnuts
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup water
1 Tbs. agar agar powder
1/2 cup raw agave nectar (or raw honey)
6 ounces raw macadamia nuts
2 cups sliced strawberries
2 tbs. raw honey or agave nectar
Combine 2 tbs. raw honey or agave with the chopped strawberries and allow to chill while making the rest of the recipe.
Blend the walnuts and dates into a coarse paste and spread onto a greased pie tin as a crust (I used coconut oil to grease it).
Boil one cup of water and whisk in agar agar powder until it is dissolved. Turn off the heat and stir in two ice cubes.
While the water/agar is cooling, blend the macadamia nuts in a vitamix into a powder. Then blend in the 1/2 cup agave/honey.
When the agar/water mixture is cool but still liquid, blend it into the agave/macadamia paste. Pour this mixture into the pie crust.
Allow the whole pie to chill for at least four hours. Top with strawberries just before serving.
Fried food!
I came up with this while looking for a non-dehydrated recipe for something that tasted breaded and fried.
1 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup nutritional yeast (optional)
1/2 cup maca powder
1/3 cup dulse flakes
1/8 tsp garlic powder (optional)
1 tsp. salt
Blend all ingredients to a grainy powder in the vitamix. To make something that's breaded/fried tasting, coat the food in cold pressed olive oil and then coat it in the sunflower seed powder. My favorite is marinating sliced mushrooms in olive oil or lemon juice and then coating them in this powder. It's delish!
