Has anyone done the MC with honey?
We're in the cabin in the middle of the woods and just figured out that we don't have enough maple syrup...but we have lots of local raw honey. I know Burroughs says no...should we just eliminate the sweetner? or can we supplement with honey?

I have read that you can use raw honey or agave.

The maple syrup is to make it palatable, but also to add vital nutrients. It seems that truly raw honey would also do both of those things. Without any sweetener, it's pretty hard to drink as much as you need in a day...at least in my opinion. ;)

so we read all the no no's for honey and the major factor seems to be the glycemic indicator (gi85 for honey versus gi56 for maple syrup). and this comes from a local farm..and i know about the predigested, vomited thing, but i think that since we have no other options, we will try it, but cut the amount in half....
would still love to hear of anyone's experience that has actually used the honey instead of maple syrup.
it will only be for part of the cleanse until one of us can get to town...20 miles out by foot or bike to car and then another 20 back...*sigh* and it's supposed to snow
thanks for quick responses! who know when internet will cut out again:)

I would go ahead and use the honey. Maple syrup is lower in glycemic index and has more mineral. To compensate for loss of mineral when using honey you can add a pinch of sea salt to your mixture and drink it in less amount more frequently so you won't have a big spike in blood glucose.
