I haven't set up my dehydrator yet. It is still in the box, but I took out my Vitamix and I was surprised how just a few veggies and fruit can create a lot of smoothies or a sauce (like apple sauce consistency).
I wanted to know these things....
1. How many meals do you drink smoothies (whether green or not)?
2. How many ounces per meal makes you feel satisfied?
3. Do you eat, or snack on anything else besides the smoothies? And at what meals?
4. If you are solely on a smoothie diet (could include snacking on some non-smoothie raw food items), how much weight do you lose consistently due to the Smoothie Lifestyle? I am talking about in months or weeks.
5. If you mostly consume smoothies, instead of eating meals, don't you miss chewing?
Just want to know what you smoothie Lifestyle is like. Thanks!

Maybe 1 a day or sometimes over two days depending on how busy I am.
2. How many ounces per meal makes you feel satisfied?
Um..no idea, I don't count volumes, calories etc. I really wouldn't have a clue, maybe two glasses?
3. Do you eat, or snack on anything else besides the smoothies? And at what meals?
I usually have smoothies as either a top up to a meal or as a breakfast meal. I make green smoothies usually in the afternoon for my son and myself, so it could be with a meal, but might not be.
4. If you are solely on a smoothie diet (could include snacking on some non-smoothie raw food items), how much weight do you lose consistently due to the Smoothie Lifestyle? I am talking about in months or weeks.
Never done this, so can't help you there! :)
5. If you mostly consume smoothies, instead of eating meals, don't you miss chewing?
I wouldn't do mostly smoothies as a permanent thing, chewing is a part of the digestive system, making the mouth salivate and activating the digestive juice production. I use smoothies (well, non green ones) as a dessert or treat, and green smoothies as a supplement.

That's what I've been trying to tell folks - two words:
GREEN SMOOTHIES!!!
1. How many meals do you drink smoothies (whether green or not)? I start my day off with one - every day.
2. How many ounces per meal makes you feel satisfied? Between 34-36 or more
3. Do you eat, or snack on anything else besides the smoothies? And at what meals? Oh yeah, some days if I'm hungry I'll grab some fruit or berries or nuts
4. If you are solely on a smoothie diet (could include snacking on some non-smoothie raw food items), how much weight do you lose consistently due to the Smoothie Lifestyle? I am talking about in months or weeks. Over a year I've eliminated over 45 pounds
5. If you mostly consume smoothies, instead of eating meals, don't you miss chewing? No because I do chew other foods even though MOST of my eating is smoothies. Also I exercise my jaw.

wow. 35 to 45 ounces? You drink 4 to 5 8oz of smoothie per meal? That is amazing because the smoothies I make so far is like apple sauce thick. Maybe I can tolerate a cup (6 oz) but to do more be a challenge for me. I can't drink it; it's too thick. I can only eat it with a spoon, so doing more than a cup would be time consuming.

I am talking about in months or weeks.I haven't lost any weight yet (not that I notice, but other people have).. I don't weigh myself, either... Numbers go to my head.
5. If you mostly consume smoothies, instead of eating meals, don't you miss chewing?Yes, but once I overcame chewing for the first few days, I didn't miss it anymore
I love consuming mostly smoothies... I feel in control. Its been about a week, and I'm going until December 31st. It's nice to give my digestive system a break. There are some symptoms that occur, like sore stomach, cravings, lightheaded/dizziness, but all that goes away... It's well worth it.
28 more days for me.

2 smooties a day - approx. 1 1/2 cup one serving - i like them
I like to eat other things - apples, sauercraut
I loose and gain weight back, smoothies only for me is not a solution - i quickly miss other food. So smoothies as a base and other things as snacks to chew:)

I have been drinking 2 smoothies a day for almost 2 weeks now - one all fruit in the morning - between 14 to 30 ounces. I drink a green smoothie PM between 14 to 30 ounces. I love them but I also eat other raw foods. I am not 100% raw yet either so I still very much like to chew food.
As far as the consistency of your smoothies, try using 2 oranges, some fresh apple juice or water to taste. I had that problem only once where the thing was so thick I had to use a spoon. I've also had the opposite where I added too much liquid and it was just too liquidy (is that a word), and I ended up drinking it too fast and not feeling very satisfied. I have really been into adding the 2 oranges lately and so far that as worked - especially if they are really juicy oranges. I guess it's trial and error with smoothies until you get some favorite recipes down. I usually just throw in whatever I have available. This is making me crave one right now! I'llbe glad when I get home so I can have one!!!:p
It's cold now so I doubt that I would want to consume only smoothies - but I may try it for a month when the weather turns warm again. I love them and they are so filling. My cravings for sweets and other junk foods has diminished so much.:D

I have one green smoothie for breakfast every day. Sometimes, i have another smoothie later in the afternoon/early evening.
2. How many ounces per meal makes you feel satisfied?I have 16-25 oz approx for breakfast. I always add 8-10 oz of water, a banana, greens, and berries, (or mangos/pears/apple etc) You may want to try adding more water or a juicy orange as suggested previously.
3. Do you eat, or snack on anything else besides the smoothies? And at what meals? I usually have one huge salad a day,either for lunch or dinner,, or both. In the winter, like now, I also start having some dehydrated veggie burgers, etc.
4. If you are solely on a smoothie diet (could include snacking on some non-smoothie raw food items), how much weight do you lose consistently due to the Smoothie Lifestyle? I am talking about in months or weeks.

Sometimes, I might chop a fruit into my smoothie and eat it out of a bowl so it feel like a smoothie soup with texture. Sometimes, it seems that having a chopped apple or pear in the smoothie helps me to feel satsified for longer. I always put greens in my smoothie. I prefer them this way!:p

2. How many ounces per meal makes you feel satisfied? Usually 32-34 will hold me well until lunch time.
3. Do you eat, or snack on anything else besides the smoothies? And at what meals? For me, a green smoothie is a meal in itself. I usually don't eat anything else until lunch time, unless, for some reason, I'm famished, in which case I'd eat the apple or banana packed in my lunch.
4. If you are solely on a smoothie diet (could include snacking on some non-smoothie raw food items), how much weight do you lose consistently due to the Smoothie Lifestyle? I am talking about in months or weeks. I lost 37 lbs. in close to 6 months.
5. If you mostly consume smoothies, instead of eating meals, don't you miss chewing? I eat plenty of meals, but I enjoy the break from chewing, especially with braces on my old teeth! I love putting my smoothies together--deciding which fruit to start with, which greens to add, whether or not to include some fat like oil of some sort ofr an avocado. Each one is a creation!

I have been reading your posts about green smoothies for months and I swear every time I am making my smoothies I think of you! So when you stated in your last post....."That's what I've been trying to tell folks....." I couldn't help but to laugh because as it turns out - in my opinion since I have started drinking smoothies - YOU ARE SO RIGHT! :p
I have fallen in love with smoothies. In fact it is after 3:00 AM and I should be sleeping but I just got done peeling oranges for a smoothie! I decided not to make a smoothie right now because I only have about 2 1/2 hours to get some sleep before I have to get up and get ready for work. I had fallen asleep but since I've changed my diet and started the smoothies it is not unusual for me to wake up and start cleaning the house and puttering around in the kitchen in the middle of the night!:eek:

I have a green smoothie for breakfast most days, and very often a smoothie made w/almond mylk, cacao, maca,bananas, etc...in the afternoon
2. How many ounces per meal makes you feel satisfied?
I always make a quart...which is two tall glasses worth...for the green smoothies I use a base of freshly squeezed orange juice instead of oranges and fresh fruit and greens and frozen fruit to make it very cold and creamy.
I have made it very frozen and thick like sorbet and it is good that way too but I prefer to drink them. You can adjust the thickness by how much liquid to solid you use.

No, not really. I consider it my meal and with drinking two large glasses I don't really have any desire for anything else right then.

Nope...I have smoothies when I want, almost always first thing in the morning and eat salad, guac, flax crackers, whatever I feel like but consider smoothies a big part and asset to eating raw. I've lost about 18 lbs so far( about 1-3 lbs a week)...due to a raw lifestyle though..not a smoothie lifestyle~

I eat a wide variety of foods, what I feel like when I feel like it so nope~:)
