I am trying to get off of cooked meats by being 100% raw, but I need some form of meat. I love sush and sashimi, but it is really expensive to eat in the restaurants all the time.
How can I buy safe sushi/sashimi tuna, salmon and white fish so I can make sushi at home? Would Whole Foods sell it to me?

This is a vegan forum so they're going to close this thread so I shouldnt really answer, but I would recommend mashing in a greenstar juicer without either blade-things in it, and then mixing with coconut cream which kills parasites. Garlic and lemon juice would also make it safer.
I've never eaten sushi or other raw fish but I find it hard to believe it would taste any better than raw vegan sushi or mock tuna salad. Both are absolutely delicious.

I need some form of meat.Why ? . . .

Why? Because I love that taste of certain meats. I don't eat them all the time, but it is a treat for me. My body craves lamb and fish.
But sorry, I didn't know this was a vegetarian board. No wonder my questions on meats and the dehydrator keeps getting deleted.
Duuuuuuh! I am a slow learner around here. Sorry.

Menat,
you may wish to read the mission statement on the home page. This is not a vegetarian board, it is a board created by Alissa to support the Raw and Living Foods way which means raw vegan (with the exception of honey, methinks).

I wrestled with this one and came to a few conclusions. I believe in energy transferrence from food and don't want the vibe of being suffocated that comes with eating fish (that's how fish die). I don't want to contribute to the depletion of ocean life. And I don't want to deal with heavy metals problematic with eating fish.

Safe fish, eh? Well, I just set up a 55 gallon saltwater reef tank last week and I have so far stocked it with a yellow-tailed damsel, a 4-stripe damsel, a (nemo) clownfish, and a shrimp. Oh yeah, and a couple snails, hermit crabs and a goby. My fish are safe and happy. Swimming and being fish...
Seriously. How could you not know this was a Vegan board? Come on! Give me a break here... :D

Menat,
have you tried some of the 'meatier' raw roast and burger recipes around? Put that sort of stuff in the dehydrator to dry and intensify the flavours and you have a great, filling substitute for meat.
And if that isn't enough (years back I had the same thing turning veg, but you get over it) I'd even suggest going for cooked veg burgers and meat substitutes over meat. Many can taste almost exactly like meat without the killing, environmental destruction, etc.
But do have an experiment with the raw vegan loaves, burgers and 'roast' recipes around, some of them are fantastic!

Menat,
Rather than delete this post, I'm going to leave it up but close it.
I am asking you, as moderator, to please refrain from any further postings about meat. As it's been already stated, this is not a raw food forum that advocates or supports raw (or even cooked) meat but rather it's vegan/vegetarian and this is stated in the Rules for posting located in the same area as the Mission Statement for this forum. Any questions concerning raw meat should be posted on a different forum that supports the raw paleo diet.
Thanks!
