i have PCOS and ive started to see a naturopath who specialized in this area, to try to go off of my pharmaceuticals and onto more natural remedies.
yesterday i got my load of new herbs/supplements... uhm.
ive never had to take so many tablets a day EVERRRR.

still on my PCOS meds... 3 tablets
+ i take probitotic... 3 tablets x 3

NOW i also need to take

+ B12 x 1
+ iron citrate x 1
+ multivitamin w. copper and iron x3
+ PCOS herbal blend 2 x 3
+ chasteberry (vitex) tincture 30 drops x 3

EVERY DAY!

AND!
shes putting me on a B complex which wasnt in at the time, i need to go back to it.

i pointed out im getting B vitamins in the multi, + the B12 (which she said i need to take every day for the rest of my life) but she said it wasnt too much.

i pointed out im getting iron both in the multi and the iron supplement, she said that was fine.

its just overwhelming.

ive gone from taking 12 tablets a day (3 for meds, 9 for probiotics)
to 23 ! + 90 drops!
and more coming!

she is familiar with the raw diet and has even tried it out although she doent recommend it to PCOS patients, but is working with it for me.

:(
i feel good that im trying to do this more homeopathically,
but only two of those things are the herbs for PCOS
the rest is just vitamin/mineral supplementation.

i feel like an old person.
i need to get a pill box.

Yeah, I used to work at a health food store and really got into popping pills for awhile, not to mention spent a lot of money doing it. Can't say that I saw a difference with it, though other people I know say they do. Feel a big difference with raw, obviously. I'm.....suspicious of vitamins anyway. All chem pre-fab and out of balance. Just gimme my Champion juicer and a variety of vegetables, thank you.

Hi ail,

I'd say if you aren't happy with the pill popping then maybe seek another natropathic opinion.

The opinions of natropaths differs heaps from one to another, some don't even like vegetarian diets let alone the raw vegan lifestyle.

How long have you been raw? It helps with many medical conditions, and I'd be wary of someone saying it wasn't good for a certain medical condition.

And you have to wonder if this natropath did try raw for any substantial amount of time. I tried raw for 30 days to dispute someone's assertion that it was amazing for health and here I am two years later on a raw board supporting it. I felt the amazing benefits, I couldn't not recommend it to people, even though I'm not 100% raw.

So take the pills, try them out if you feel it might be beneficial, but keep in mind that vitamin supplementation (besides the obvious B12) is mainly used as people do not get enough in their daily diets (most diets being deficient in most nutrients except fats and proteins, usually the bad forms).

I hope you eventually don't need any kind of supplementation for your condition, natural or otherwise!

Sounds like you've got some expensive pee happening.
I agree with the posters - go raw for 30-days, see how you feel - and maybe seek out another naturopath...remember - everybody wants your money...or your pee! HA!!!

How can she say that raw is not recommended for PCOS patients? I don't know if I would trust her. I have PCOS and raw does lower cholesterol and blood pressure, it regulates hormones, and pretty much cures insulin resistance. It has cleared up my acne, thickened my hair and my ovulation is not as painful.

I would get a second opinion.

I would be very skeptical, especally if you are purchasing these supplements from her. I would expect her tune to change somewhat if you were to say you have found another, much cheaper source for most of the supplements and were to continue to see her. I would recommend having some consultations with other naturopaths
