I also wanted to ask. After a smoothie or any fresh fruit and veggies I'm starving in like 20 min. Seriously! I am pregnant. What can I do to feel full without having to eat CONSTANTLY????

I try to eat as "instinctively" as I can and when my body signals for more food with a hunger signal I eat more.

Hey lil mama... you're carrying a baby... eat when you're hungry... it's all good... also google Storm and Jinjee (I'm not sure if that's their names) but they're a well known raw couple that have a bunch of gorgeous kids -- and she went thru raw pregnancies... and my goodness that woman is BEAUTIFUL!

Listen to your body and if you want 5 green smoothies... I would drink them! nuts - eat em! raw ice cream... eat it!! veggies, fruit... munch away! All that vibrant foods feeding you and your very blessed baby... that's very cool!

rawk on!

I would also suggest adding more fat. I melt coconut oil and put it into my smoothie and find this helps a bunch witht he hunger or add a 1/2 avocado to it - any more just makes it too thick!. Sometime it's tricky finding what your body is hungry for. I fully agree with Starfire. Eat as much as you want dont worry about volume, really it's ok!

But guys...I'm hungry every 20 min! I went out xmas shopping and I tried to be proactive taking some food along. We were out for 4 hrs. i took a mandarin orange a handful of pumpkin seeds, 3 dates, and about 10 baby carrots. I thought that would be enough to tie me over till I got home. Nope I got so hungry my stomach was gnawing at itself:) I didn't say anything but when my mother in law stuck a chicken burger under my nose I devoured it especially because it takes half an hour to drive home from the mall. I was sick 10 minutes after eating it but that's an other story. My point is how can I bring SO MUCH FOOD WITH ME? I mean I don't want my purse stuffed FULL of fruit etc.!! Also it's so annoying to have to eat the whole time you're shopping!!! HELP!!

I bring nuts with me when I know I'm going to be out of the house. They tend to stick to my ribs and stop me from getting those nagging hungries

the only way smoothies hold us over -green or otherwise-
is when we add a handful of nuts & 1 T coconut oil before blending.
it really does the trick.

No offense, but this doesn't seem to be very much food, especially for one who is pregnant.

Maybe you could make a bag of trail mix- raisins, nuts, seeds, etc.- calorie dense foods- as well as some type of high water content fruit and/or vegetable- apples, carrots (more than 10 baby carrots, though!), celery, etc.

I hope you are feeling much better!

With Love.

It does take a little getting used to as far as how to make this work in the course of all you have to do, places to go etc...Add frozen bananas to your smoothies and the avocado...you won't taste it. Bring several bananas with you...they are dense and can help hold you over, dried snack mix, nuts, flax crackers, a lara bar or three!!:)
The foods you are eating seem very low calorie and you need a large volume of food to meet your caloric needs. Make granola with nuts, fruit and coconut oil...bring athermos of smoothie or almond mylk...make sure when you go out you act as if you are packing a days food...eat...eat...eat!!! Really. When I make a green smoothie I make a full quart and I drink it for a meal..two large glasses. You could add hemp seed to it to make it more filling. Pack a small cooler and take it with you....think volume!!! And if you are hungry every 20 minutes then eat mama!!! Some days you will find yourself less hungry...listen to your body!! It really does know what you need~
Congrats!!!!

I like to keep a clean pocket knife in my glove box because I know that every grocery store on my way has lots of the raw foods I want to eat. Also there are many restaurants and even some fast food places where you can get raw foods like salads.

wow thanks for all the replies! You're probably right....not calorie rich enough. I don't have a good source for nuts and such yet. I mean I can get them at the grocery store ...the ones that are sold as raw but are they? I don't know if I can trust that:) Whats a lara bar? Anyone know of a good source for getting these things in Canada?

the pocket knife thing is also a good idea....

The raw pregnant thing....

My suggestions.....fruit fills me up more than veggies.....keep eating apples.

A great filler upper was to put apples, coconut, seeds or nuts, raisins or dates into the food processor. Pulse it until it's like rice texture, then add vanilla or cinnamon if you like. I like it as is, and could eat it by the bowlful like cereal.

You could also take some nuts or seeds, grind finely with flaxseed and add raisins and make balls, and roll them in coconut.

Don't just do smoothies and salads unless you add some hemp seeds to the smoothies or something like nuts.....in my experience it wasnt enough

yeh lil mama you gotta eat when you're hungry , thats not like having a craving , your body's telling you it needs nutrition . Try bananas , very filling and very healthy , i can also suggest raw pasta and a fruit smoothie or pudding that has avocado it. But also remember to eat when you're hungry and keep well hydrated . You need your nutrition and so does the little one growing inside you ^_^.

I've read that the key to a filling meal is balance of greens, fats, and sugars (fruit). Try to include a moderate amount of all 3 in a meal and see if it works better for you. Green smoothies are easy to do that with by adding some coconut oil. Salads with olive oil and fruit are another simple combination. Unfortunately, I find that most snacks/meals require me to bring a cooler. Greens are not the easiest thing to bring for a snack. Something like a dehydrated green cracker made w/ flax seeds and a piece of fruit would work though. I have learned to always bring more food than I think I need and I also keep gallons of water in the car so I don't get stuck drinking from a fountain or buying too many bottles of water.

Mama, it sounds to me like you're not eating enough.

When you eat raw, your body processes it right away, instead of it sitting in your guts stagnating like it does with SAD. Therefore, you DO eat a lot more and more frequently.

Example...it's not uncommon for me to put 2 bananas, a 1 inch slice of pineapple, a cup of berries, a whole orange, and some coconut oil in a smoothie. I drink two huge glasses of that, and yes, about 2 hours later, I'm hungry again.

EAT all you WANT! If it takes 5 bananas to fill you up, then eat 5 bananas! I often eat a salad that would feed 4 people by SAD standards, in a HUGE glass salad bowl! Sometimes for breakfast I'll eat 1/4 to 1/2 of a cashew cheesecake. It just depends...and it's all good!

I agree that adding some fat will help. Good fat like avocados, coconut oil stick to the ribs a bit longer. It will also be VERY helpful to make some crackers or cookies with sprouted grains, which will fill you more and keep you full.
