It may not be. Hemp has to be heat-treated so it won't be viable to legally be in the US (if that is where you are buying from). If so, then it's not really raw.

I have seen Nutiva representatives at fairs/festivals and they claim that it is raw.

It could be, I don't know. You know, Maranatha makes 'raw' almond butter that we know isn't truly fresh/raw, due to the processing. I still use it, even though it's not really fresh IMO. If it (the hemp) isn't sproutable, and it has been on a shelf for a while, we wouldn't know how fresh/raw that they claim it to be.

They can say it's raw and all that, however it would be interesting to try some kind of experiment with it if you really wanted to know for sure, that is if it mattered all that much to you.

Not saying that it is particularly detrimental, just sounds like one of those transitional foods, like dehydrated, frozen, seasonings, green powders, etc. that many of us use for enjoyment or supplementation.

Just throwing out my thoughts here! Anything we don't eat from the natural form it came in from the earth isn't (IMO) truly raw, unless we blended and/or processed it ourselves and know for sure. Not saying you shouldn't use it, just saying that it probably isn't truly raw. ;)

maybe minimaly processed and non enzyme-killing heat exposed is a better expression?
