Ok, so when we lived in Puerto Rico, I went on a survival trip for a week, where we had to live off of wild edibles. OMG. it was SUCH a good experience!

Unfortunately, I got hooked to coconut "cotton candy"...

This phenomenon happens when a young coconut sprouts a tree about 1.5 feet tall. You crack open the coconut, and the fluff inside is INSANE! SO good.

So, I saw coconuts still in their green husks at Whole Foods, and was wondering if I could plant a couple in pots at home, to eat for the cotton candy?

What do you think?

Gosh... I'll bet you could! It would certainly be worth a try ... you're the only other person I've heard talk about the coconut fluff! It is amazing isn't it?!!

I'm always arguing with dh cuz I want to eat the sprouted coconut - and of course he's not wanting me to cuz ... it's growing and he wants the whole tree... so it will produce more... but for goodness sakes... this is Hawaii and they are EVERYWHERE!!! I'm sure the island won't miss a few coconuts!! :D

I say -- give it a try!

I've decided that I want to go live with Starfire in COCONUT LAND!

I wish I could grow a coconut tree here in CA :(

I've heard that there is a SMALL chance that it'd grow.

Ya'll STINK!! Even here in beautiful NC...where we have SUPER HOT summers....there are cold winters (well, sometime)
I could never imagine GROWING a coconut tree, or sprouting a coconut. Maybe if I had a SUNROOM, with temp. control...lots of sunlamps....lol....I can DREAM can't I???!!!!

What fun, let us know how it goes.
