Hey everyone,
I've been 95% raw (100% most of the time but with a couple of tiny slip ups) for 25 days and I noticed that I was beginning to get bloating and indigestion all the time, problems that I never had before going raw. I tried increasing my water intake but it only made things worse because I was drinking a lot of water already. Then I read a bit about food combining and that seems to have helped a lot. The only problem is that I love raw chocolate but I don't know what foods it combines well with. I tried making a pudding out of raw cacao, bananas, avocado and dates but this made me feel really sick. I also would like to know what foods maca combines well with. Thanks a ton!

Is this a trick question?;) Raw chocolate goes with everything, of course!;)
Okay, all kidding aside. If that combination made you not feel well, how about trying it once with just the banana, and once with just the avocado, and see if that helps. Then maybe you could try making it with both, but use agave as your sweetner instead of dates and see if that helps. Just some thoughts. HTH!:D

I know I also have issues with food-combining, but I've been hooked on Gliving's renditions of chocolate puddings (made with coconut, no fruit):

Going to try this next...

(scroll down and click on "pudding") This one is my FAVORITE. (-coffee extract, and instead of melted chocolate, extra raw cacao).

Dates didn't agree with me at all. What really helps with my digestion that I learned from this forum was taking probiotics and enzymes. It has made a WORLD of difference and the gas and bloating are gone.
I am hooked on raw chocolate now and find it is not a problem as long as I keep the amounts small. I try to wait a little while after my meal but sometimes it's hard! On SAD when I had chocolate in the evening I was almost guarenteed to have a "hangover", racing heart and bad sleep. Now I just feel great and sleep good! For a quick dessert I just mix up a few cocoa beans, agave and cashew or almond butter.
Enjoy!:p

I PM'd you. It actually isn't David, but a site that sells them I discovered. Thought it might be a conflict of interest to post the link??? Sent it to you.
No recipe listed. :( But perhaps with experimentation you can figure it out!
Edit: Tried to PM you unsuccessfully, lol. Send me a PM if you would like the link. Peace.

So I finally found one chocolate recipe that I really like that doesn't upset my stomach . . .
Frozen wild blueberries, raw cacao, maca, raw honey and water. Delicious!

can we get measurements?
I need maca recipes that don't taste gross. it's just so hard to include daily taste-wise (I'm testing it for a month just to see about the hormone-balancing effects)...

I don't measure when I make this, so these measurements are approximate.
3/4 cup water
2 heaping tablespoons cacao
1 tablespoon maca
1-2 tablespoon honey
3/4 cup frozen wild blueberries
Honestly, I really like the taste of maca, but you can't really taste the maca in this very much at all.

Have you tried cacao with soaked chia seeds? Angela Stokes sells them on her website, www.rawreform.com.
Chia seeds are really good for you, and cheap. 1/3c chia seeds, when soaked in water, bulk up to over 2 cups, nice and soft, kind of like tapioca.
I will combine about 1/2 cup soaked chia seeds with (approx)** 1/4 cup cacao powder, 1/4 cup agave, and 1/4 cup raw coconut butter.
It's *divine* and tastes like a chocolate tapioca pudding.
**I'm just guessing on the measurements, try what works for you.
