Hello everyone:)
Ive been reading and enjoying these boards for a few weeks now. You all seem lovely!
So im new to raw (been high raw a few months and am just now turning 100%)
Anyway about a year ago, before i knew about any of this, i lost most of my hair, became very angry and irritable and my tummy became very bloated, like i was pregnant. The doctors couldnt find any reason for these symptoms. And i was tired all the time. It was very traumatic and worrying as im only 19 and also have a very small frame (Im 5 ft 1, and weigh about 7 and a half stone...or about 110 pounds? I think?) But this tummy sticks out a mile. The hairs finally growing back slowly, but this stomachs hard to live with. Ive been vegetarian for 8 years and vegan for 2, and i was never a junk food eater (well, not as bad as some, anyway! I now know of course that my diet was pretty bad)
Is there anything anyone could suggest to help this go away? I have no idea whats causing it. Are there any special foods i could eat? Anyone know what it could be? Will 100% raw solve this alone? Im kind of desperate for a solution now
Thank you all very much!
Youre all awesome by the way...some of your pictures, you look amazing!

Maxi,
For the past year and a half I have been going through the same thing... I have been a vegetarian/Vegan for years (sometimes slipping up and having a bit of dairy or eggs). Sometimes after I eat my lower abdomen becomes very bloated where I look pregnant, it is painful when I push down on it and I become gassy (sorry if TMI!) I usually will have flare-ups where every day for 2-3 weeks I am feeling bloated and horrible and then it will go away for 2-4 weeks... Trying to avoid going to a doctor and getting prodded and stabbed with needles only to tell me they don't know what's going on... I tried to self diagnose myself on the Internet (probably not the wisest idea as everytime you put in a symptom the dreaded "C" word comes up (cancer) ) But I kept a food diary for about a month and came to the conclusion that it's either an allergy to soy or to gluten. Have you been tested for these? I finally made myself an appointment with a doctor in a few weeks for allergy tests.
I too am brand new to a RAW food diet, and hopefully this will help.
Good luck!
Mindy :)

Are there any probiotics you or anyone could recommend? I need vegan ones without sweeteners. Are all the other ingredients in regular probiotics ok? There are lots of unfamiliar names in the ones at my local health store

Heya Mindy
So sorry to hear youve been going through this too, i know how much it sucks! It sounds exactly the same as i have, its really bad after ive eaten and it DOES come and go, flaring up every few weeks. Weird. I too tried to self diagnose finding the same problems, and i even lost sleep over it. But my doctors were even worse, i WAS prodded, poked, given harmful drugs etc, but never given answers:(
A soy allergy is a possibility. This all began after going vegan and that would have been when i began to consume soy...i guess i always just assumed allergies would have more...well, allergy-like symptoms? Like rashes etc. Its a very possible theory though, ill have to get tested too and avoid it for now! Im doubting its gluten, as i was a huge wheat consumer as a kid and was fine, and now i dont eat bread etc as i have a nasty yeast infection (now weve both given TMI:D)
Thanks for that, its definitely something to consider
Good luck too! Do hope you find answers soon

Possibly joining the monthly raw challenge with the group and see how 100% raw feels ? I know it feels right for me. The next challenge starts Saturday. Here's a link to the sign-up sheet:

Try getting tested for a soy allergy, although this allergy usually does generate rash and common other "allergy" like symptoms... you would be surprised how much gluten is in things you would have no idea that it is in, not just bread... so you may want to get tested for this anyway! All my life I have always consumed lots of bread, but only have had these symptoms the last year and a half... one thing I read on the gluten allergy is that it can lay dormant and then suddenly for no reason just flare up, sometimes if stress levels increase etc.
But I wish you all the best, and if you find out what's going on let me know!!!
Best,
Mindy, Web MD ha ha :D just kidding
