I have a question as to which would be better to do first...I started raw eralier this year after being diagnosed with gallstones. It was wonderful and as soon as I passed the stones I slipped horribly and now want to get back to it..I had lost 20lbs and felt wonderful and now I have gained it back plus 5lbs. I was just wondering would it be beneficial to start on a fast and then start adding raw foods in or should I go raw and then in a few months do a fast?

I am really excited to really get back to this lifestyle as I never felt better when I ate this way, but I want to really CLEAN out my system!!!!

Thanks for your help!!!!

ps.....also what fasts do people prefer? thnx!

I've been raw for 7 months, and am on day 5 of my first juice fast/feast right now. My goal is to make it 20 days, but I'm hoping once I reach that, I'll want to go longer.

I've heard success from both fasting/feasting in the beginning to speed up detox, and also success from being raw for a period of time before starting a fast/feast. I think it would be up to you, your personality, and your mindset as to which one would be the most successful for you.

Personally, if I tried a fast/feast before embarking on my raw foods journey, I don't think I would have been successful. I probably would have been frustrated, ended up failing at the fast, beaten myself up, and lost some enthusiam for raw foods - which probably would have made me put off the whole idea for a while. I didn't have the confidence back then, and I'm sure that would have sabotaged my efforts.

Since you've already started paving your raw path earlier this year, and know kind of what to expect, a fast/feast before hand this time may come easily to you. As long as you have the determination, the willpower, and the spirit.

My opinion is that working in fresh, raw plant food at a schedule that is right for YOU.....will crowd out the other things....and lessen any 'cravings'. Fasting usually dumps too much back into your system too quickly. Engage in light fasts.....or juice fasts.......of no more than a day......until you have reached your level of chosen raw....you know?

i remember reading (in David Wolfe's book i think) that fasting on a toxic body is way too harsh. It's better to start changing the diet or going 100% right away and then fasting :o ;)

I say eat.

Do a fast after you've been back on raw for awhile.
