Hi,
Any of you out that ever go through this? When I started raw I went through detox for the first three days then felt on top of the world. Now, after being raw for two months I just feel tired all the time. Maybe the toxins that are deeper are coming out?
The other day I went to bed at 6:30 P.M. and woke up 11 hours later. This is very rare for me. I love watching pro football. But lately the games that start at 8:00 P.M. or so I can hardly keep my eyes open by 9 P.M. to watch it.

Is this normal? Will it pass?

I'm 53 and often walk between 4 and 6 miles a day before work but lately am lucky to get in two miles.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

You could be right, it could just be deeper lying toxins coming to the surface to be released.

Hopefully it passes quickly for you, and you're back to feeling on top of the world again!

I love pro football, too (a PACKERS girl through and through :D ), and I'd be pretty miserable if I were missing the games! :p

Hi,

When I went raw two years ago I kept waiting and waiting to stop feeling so tired. I was raw for 5 months and never got that "raw high" everyone talked about. Granted I was chasing five children around and we were traveling all over the country at the time. Maybe it would have been worse had it not been for raw? I am now back onraw after lapsing for far too long and I am not quite so tired, and now I have 6 little ones to chase after, including an infant.

I'm sure that this will pass and you will get back to feeling great again eventually. Has your diet changed much? Are you getting enough greens? Are you eating enough? Are you doing anything different now that may be a cause for the lack of energy?

Hope you feel better soon.

As already noted, could certainly be deeper detox. Was in a slump for awhile and incorporated more green smoothies with added green powder and started feeling more energetic. Don't know if it makes any difference, but I always enjoy a wide variety of frozen fruits in the smoothies, too.

Your daily walking regimen is awsome--I'm lucky to do about 2 walking my Springer.

Hope you feel better soon.

I'm going through the same thing. It's been just over 3 months at 100% raw for me. I've been sleeping for 12 hours the last 3 days, and that's not easy to do with small children!

I'm wondering what's going on as well. I keep waiting for the energy. I do not exercise, and thought that might be part of my problem. Not sure since you walk daily though. I have added more green smoothies in this week, but no improvement so far. I don't eat much, and I'm not crazy about the fruits available right now.

I look forward to other responses here. Hopefully it's just detox and it'll pass.

I do not exercise.

Radiantly Raw? Is that true? How did you lose 47 pounds in 3 months without exercise? (I was just looking at your blog photos). Please, how did you do it? What were you eating? OR were you NOT eating? Please explain...

I have been raw for about 2.5 months and am feeling the same way. I don't have that incredible energy everyone raves about. i do feel that it's detox and lack of exercise, for me. Dh is touring the local gym as I type this. I'm hoping to really increase my cardio to get more energy.

One thing that is confusing me-I am sleeping about the same amount, maybe an hour more-but I feel SOOOO relaxed all the time. Kinda like the uber-relaxation meditation after yoga class...and i feel so groovy all the time. Maybe I am confusing relaxation with sleepiness? is that a possibility for you?

(oh are are you SURE your getting enough water?)

Nope, I'm lazy, and still 222 pounds. I keep saying that a few more pounds gone & I'll get my butt in gear. Cause I know I need to.

Um, I ate simply at first because I didn't have Alissa's book & no dehydrator. After a few weeks I got both of those things and started making recipes. I eat whatever, as long as it's raw. Just like Alissa recommends. Thanks heavens it's worked for me!

I have 1 or 2 green smoothies a day, with a lot of greens. Like kale, chard, parsley. I try my best to remember to have a tablespoon of coconut oil a day. Putting into one of the smoothies works well. No superfoods yet, only cause I cannot afford them.

Hope this helps a little.:o

When I think of sleep I think of healing. Maybe your body is healing ?

I experience this from time to time also. I usually up my green intake, and lower my fat intake (particulary nuts... I seem to have fewer problems with things like avocados and durian), and that shoots my energy levels way up.

good luck,

I think the level of greens intake is a really important factor in energy levels, for me anyway.

At the moment I too am quite tired but I know it's mostly the following

a) not enough greens, in particular green smoothies, they pack in lots of greens and the blended greens are readily absorbed.

b) not enough exercise, my bike got stolen about a month ago and I haven't exercised since, so I really need to start again.

c) stress with changing jobs, househunting, other commitments etc.

But definitely check your greens consumption levels and see if they are adequate.

A very special thanks to all of you who cared so much to help me on this tiredness thing.

I take in two sometimes three green smoothies a day and usually 90% of the greens are organic (I REALLY feel tired when I do non-organic!)

I think one thing that has changed is my friend gave me about 20 lbs of organic nuts he grows. So I've been eating some of those but not too much.

I think another thing I began doing was taking Saw Palmetto berry. I just read a book that says to take approx 160mg/day. I looked at the label on the bottle and it says each caplet contains 500mgs! And I was taking about 6 a day. So I've cut down to one a day. I will see if that helps. Last night I awoke around 2:00 so my body must have thought it got enought rest. Otherwise I was sleeping through the night when taking the SP.

Of course it doesn't help that the days are much shorter and not having as much sun has a depressing effect. I think more elderly die in the winter months than any other time. Maybe due to lack of sun energy?

I've been including Nutritional Yeast in my green smoothies too for the b vitamins for increased energy, but only about two tsp's per day.

Oh I sent away for Beachbody Power90 DVD's to get myself in better shape. I want that ripped look again (what man doesn't? he he) like I did when I was in sports.

Anyway, thanks for all your help. If you note anything I'm doing wrong above, please let me know!

Tony

I was just coming back in here to ask about your nut consumption. Nuts do different things to different people. I LOVE them, but I can't have them as they not only make me gain weight, but they make me really tired and sluggish. Maybe just take them out of your diet for a week and see if there is any change? If not, you can always add them back in. :)

Nuts don't work in my program well either. Fortunately, I have found that live raw sproutable seeds are a good substitute and do work well in my program.

I gained three pounds in a week just eating more nuts. So I am now cutting back. Thanks for the advice!
