Hi all

I have a 15k race June 6 and am planning on giving this diet another go. I really want to start off with a bang ans want to do the master cleanse for 10-15 days prior to beginning my raw journey.

Has anyone done the master cleanse - any comments. advise....anyone want to start a support thread and do it with me??

Also - is hemp protein raw? I heard it was....?

thanks!!

Why don't you do a raw diet and cut out the fats and nuts? You will lose weight and your body won't be working as hard digesting the cooked foods!!! You seem to be really dillegent in your eating - you should even try mono-food eating! I bet that "ring" will disappear!
If you google search "master cleanse" it will bring up a lot of info. I know Helen of Tennessee has done it. For me, it's really hard to give up any food unless I'm fasting for spiritual reasons.
Good luck!!!

Hey there!

If you'd like to see other forum members' experiences with Master Cleanse, click on the link below. I searched on the term "master cleanse" using the search function here (banana at the top) and came up with lots of discussion -- I recall some of it but haven't followed it all.

I'm hoping you'll consider raeannasun's suggestion, though. You may be surprised at the results.

I have done the Master Cleanse a couple of times, once for 6 days and once for 9 days.

I do feel great on it and I do lose weight.

Both times I didn't come off of the cleanse properly. While doing it I wasn't hungry and I felt wonderful, but as soon as I got off of it and put the first food into my mouth, I couldn't stop eating!!!!! I didn't put all the weight back on, maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of what I lost, but I still probably ate worse foods afterwards than what I was before. So just be sure to be careful coming off of it.

Also if your are 100% raw, just note that the MC is not all raw. The 100% maple syrup in it is not raw.

Go head and try it. If you find it doesn't work, then just go to eating raw. Just cut your nuts, seeds and dehydrated foods way back. Increase your fresh raw fruits and veggies and you'll see the weight come off. In January I did 100% raw for 15 days and lost 12 pounds. You can check my journal on this board and see what I ate.

Peace,

I also did the Master Cleanse back in January, and much like Helen of Tennessee said, i never once felt hungry throughout the cleanse while i was drinking the lemonade. At the time before i did the cleanse, my diet wasn't raw. I was mainly a vegan who ate cooked veggie meals, fruit, pasta, & bread for the most part.
But i also can attest to having problems coming off of the cleanse. I found myself overeating tremendously for the first few days. I know the benefits would be tremendous if i were to do it now and come off of it eating raw like i'me ating now.

Universal, or anyone out there,
I will be doing the MC starting June 9th and would love some support and company!
would anyone be interested in joining me and posting our 'battle'/progress here??

I am just in fear of the whole thing, but know it will do me good

I would love to join you, but my body isn't ready for the MC. It's funny, I've started the MC on numerous occasionas and unless my body and mind was ready, I couldn't get through the first day. The 2 times I did do the MC, I had no problems starting it. I know at this particular time my body isn't ready for a MC. It is currently craving greens. I've slowly have started increasing my greens and I'm feeling better. This morning I'm off to Wild Oats for my shot of Wheatgrass.

I hope you can find someone to do this with you. You might want to post this over on the "juicing" section of this board. I see that others there have done the MC. You might find a partner there.

I have a friend who does the MC once or twice a year and she always prepares her mind by meditating before she begins. Getting in the right frame of mind helps her be more intune with her body. Quiet your mind, meditate on your goals in doing the MC. I know some who start out with smaller goals like doing it for a day, then in a week trying again by doing it for 2-3 days and slowing building up to longer and longer times. I also know people who can start it and go a week or more with no problems. Quiet your mind and listen to your body. You will know when you are ready.

In my e-Book on juice fasting, we discuss the Master Cleanse recipe.

http://www.therawdiet.com/pdf/fasting.pdf

John Rose says he get great results using agave nectar instead of maple syrup.

Hi Animlover,

I don't know when my body is ready. I just know right now I'm craving sweet fruits. I'm having a tropical smoothie everyday. This wouldn't be a good time for me to try the MC. I'll think about doing the MC, then I'll give it a try and if I can go the whole first day, then I'm set and can go as long as I feel I need to. Once I went 6 days and once 9 days. Then all of a sudden I feel like I need food and I start to eat (but not the right way!!!!).

I'll tell you, though, that when I do the MC I feel so GREAT. I have energy, I feel so light. I'm pain free. I really like the feeling, but unless my body and mind is ready for it, I just can't get started.

Wish I could tell you more.

Be sure to post here if you start it and let us know how you're doing.

Hello,
I myself have done the master cleanse but I had the same experience that others have mentioned. I felt great while on it, but the minute I started re-introducing any other foods back in I was ravenous. So, it was virtually impossible for me to break the fast properly. Just beware that this can happen.
