Lowered my raw intake a little in the last couple days (holiday-related), and now I feel a cold coming on. (My daughter has had one, so this is not a huge surprise, but I had hoped that my more alkaline diet would help me escape it.) What to do?

I'm worried because a few years ago when I did Eat To Live (lots of raw), I had the worst winter of my life in terms of illness, starting with a cold at Thanksgiving, a major upper respiratory virus that last six weeks starting a week before Christmas, then several more colds AND a stomach bug before I was finished with the cold-and-flu season. At the time, I attributed it to falling off the Eat To Live way at Thanksgiving and staying off it during the sick and stressful times thereafter, but now I'm wondering if all the detox left my immune system unable to cope.

Eager to hear insight and advice. Thanks.

Anne,
Try to get in lots of ginger and garlic, also rest, less stress, make time for yourself. Take a good multi, mineral, greens supplement. I take Black Currant Oil. It helps with lots of things one of them being lung function.
Hope you get feeling better soon.

When I feel a cold coming on I like to juice oranges and garlics. I use a peeler so that I get plenty of the pithy white part of the orange and then put in enough of the garlic so that there is plenty to taste. Come to think of it I do that even if I don't feel a cold coming on cuz its so YUMMY :)
