View Full Version : Seeds n' storage
I'm storing some seeds for sprouting in plastic buckets. I've heard that the lids should be pulled off to give these living things air. Does anyone know how long to leave the lids off, and how often this should be done?
thanks

Boy I've never heard that.... we've always stored our seeds in airtight containers. I'll be curious to hear what others have to say....

yeah, opening a seed lid at my house seems to get the word out to those blasted little moths that i just got rid of after months of wrangling cleaning freezing washing & re-jarring. grrrr!
kinda like leaving a half eaten banana on the counter & watching the fruit flies miraculously appear

I store mine in canning jars, but I replace the ring type lids with plastic ones. Airtight.

I also store mine in airtight containers, but now also put them in the fridge along with my dates and all my nuts.

Living sprouts need air....but seeds do not. Keep them in a cool, dry place in sealed containers - preferably vacuum sealed. Just my opinion.
