View Full Version : I hate attributing EVERYTHING to detox, but...is this detox?

I usually have VERY clear skin. No pimples or zits or blackheads, anything of that sort. Well, the other day I woke up with his huge red spot on my cheek. Why is this happening? Am I detoxing fatty oils I had when I ate SAD?

It could be anything of course but our skin is our biggest organ.... it's a great vessel for clearing the body. Do some oil pulling if you can and I am a huge fan of cucumber juice for clear skin. Best to ya... :D

I wonder the same thing...
I woke up a few days ago with a bumpy, red, painful, itchy RASH that goes up both sides of my torso, from my hip bones to my arm pits. It is starting to travel around to both my lower back and my belly now. I don't know WHAT this is...but it's so uncomfortable and dramatic. I also have a long-standing patch of eczema on my ankle that has gotten sooooo much worse since going high raw. It hurts and itches insanely! Both conditions are quite tortuous. Meanwhile, the skin on my face couldn't be clearer. I wish someone would come along and reassure me. I don't want to go to the doctor for this, if it is detox. I'm a bit surprised by the intensity of it if it is, given I'm not at 100% raw yet. I even caved in to eating cooked vegan today, one reason being to slow this down a little--oh, and because I had this whole (no longer applicable to my life) mindset about Thanksgiving and comfort foods.
If anyone has had a similar experience with eczema/rashes, I'd love to hear it.

The skin is considered the third kidney as well as the third lung. If stuff isn't coming out the way is "should", it'll find other ways to eliminate and the skin is one of the easiest ways.

Wow...
as I've said, I've had an incredibly stubborn patch of eczema on my inner ankle for about a year now. It has never, ever been as red, inflamed, and itchy as it is since I started high raw. Last night I dabbed raw apple cider vinegar on it, and began ingesting the acv with a little water. I also dabbed the acv on my torso. The itch of both conditions went COMPLETELY away, which is a miracle.
BUT...my ankle is now swollen, all the way around, as well as that foot. I'm wondering if this is accelerated detox from the ACV, or should I be thinking about a trip to the ER...?
Y(ay)ikes! :D
Hello,
I too am battling some strange rashes. I've suffered the rashes off and on for the last 8 years and have seen numerous allopathic doctors, all of whom are quick to write a prescription for a topical ointment. Some doctors say the rashes (which move around) are stress related, PMS related, food related, chemical related, heat related, or animal related. Some have diagnosed eczema and others have denied that diagnosis but none of them have been able to cure the rash. I may have several months when my body is free of rashes (oh, how I revel in those times) only to have them reappear in a different area.
Prior to going high raw on 8/12/07 I had eliminated flour, sugar, dairy and red meat from my diet. I thought eating raw might be the cure I was looking for but even after going raw I am still battling a rash on both calfs, (the left being the worst) my right shoulder blade (first time ever in that location) my right elbow and my left thumb. Very bizarre. I've just started a regimen of MSM and I'm praying for some relief. I do a lot of greens, bee pollen, goji powder, maca powder, Hemp, and colonics once a month.
Sorry that I don't have any answers but I can sympathize with those of you who are suffering rashes and will certainly keep you all in my prayers.
Much love and thanks to those of you who keep these threads going.

I was googling common rashes the other night and stumbled across something called ribo rash (sp???). It is just awful - the images. It is caused by a flavor enhancer of all things! Go figure. Pasteruize my almonds but by ALL MEANS keep this crap on the market!
K, gets off soap box.......
Yeah, I have eczema and dry skin probs. I have not had such probs this year though as previous. I have a bit of a rash/yeast infection (I call it athlete's breast) just now with a dry eczema like patch. I put the pau d'arco on it as if it were yeast and it is nearly gone now. Interesting.
I go thru phases of very clear skin and then phases of not so clear skin and some acne. When it clears it clears very nicely and my skin is sooooo smooth. Revell is 110% right about the skin/organ thing. As are justine and the others. There are like 4 ways for the body to deal with things. Mouth, bowel movement, thru the skin as acne, boil, dry skin, rash, whatever, and to finally store it in your body somewhere. Personally, I would rather have it come out that be stored in there!

Karen,
My heart goes out to you. I can really relate. I wish you the eventual disappearance of all itchy-scratchy skin issues forever. And me, too. :)
