View Full Version : Giving Myself Permission...To Be Nauseous

Sooo...I decided to give myself permission to be vegan/cooked for myself this Thanksgiving. I am in the midst of a breakup and knew I was spending the day with me, myself, and I, so the familiar foods seemed desirable. I was (and still am) confident of returning to high raw immediately after today. Well, I ate 2 helpings each of stuffing, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie throughout the afternoon and now I'm sick! Ugh! No animal products, no processed sugar (used agave in the pie) and STILL, I feel yuck. This has been an interesting mental/emotional/physical process to go through. It tasted good going down, but the ill effects started almost immediately and are lingering now--slight headache, fogginess, nausea, full feeling.
Raw is the way to eat! Congrats to those of you who are experiencing an all-raw day! I'm pretty darn sure this'll be it for me "giving myself permission" this holiday season. :p Tomorrow, it's kale salad for moi.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

How long have you been raw? I DONT want to "give myself permission" but as I'm a minor I may be forced to eat.

I did something similar. I took my gorgeous 4 1/2 year old dd to see a movie today and had some popcorn, coke and raisinettes. I got severe diarrhea 1/2 way thru the movie. We finally get home and I am so very sick. I felt like I had been doing so well and feeling so great that I "deserved" a treat. I sure got what I deserved! Diarrhea and vomiting! Ugh.... so much for a treat. You'd think I'd learn..... feeling awesome, looking good, down a few pounds... I know! I'll eat crappy food and have colon blow. Perfection. LOL! :o

I've been high raw--I guess about 80%?--for about 6 weeks, give or take. It sure is interesting to see how sensitive my body is becoming. I didn't even eat massive amounts of anything. But the cooked potatoes and the bread...let me say it one more time...ugh.
And to think how I used to stuff myself. and to think I though just going vegan was the sh*t.
Nope. RAW vegan is the sh*t. :D
Good luck with your situation! I don't think anyone can force you to eat, my dear.

Oh, how your post made me laugh! NOT at your suffering, mind you. Just at the whacko mindset we clearly shared today...I think I'm going to put the concept of "comfort food" away now. It doesn't fit my life. Today was a reminder for me, and I'd say a gentle one, compared with your nightmare!
I do hope you're feeling a bit better?

Before going mostly raw I was hot ALL the time, always uncomfortable, and always wanting the temperature of my environment lower. Raw food has helped tremendously with that.
So . . . we go to the in-laws (who are older and keep the thermostat set to hotter-n-hell) on Thanksgiving. I'm eating my greens & fruit and handling the temperature pretty well. The T-day meal comes out and I eat all of it: bird meat, stuffing, gravy, etc.
And of course, about an hour later I'm burning up and can't find any relief except outside.
We're going back at Christmas. I'm going to have to find a nice way to say "No Thank You" this time.

marcus, that warm thing happens to me, too now! It's immediate--a rush of heat and I feel a little strangled. Bread does that to me. Did it happen before and I just never noticed?
Lets promise ourselves a raw Xmas. :)

I felt like that the last time I had a full cooked meal earlier on in the year. Not only did the meal last a mere 2 minutes (no chewiness!) I got really hot and uncomfortable.
Gosh, I love feeling all light and clean when I eat my fruit and greens!
(hey that kinda rhymes)
