It's SOOOOOOO good!!!:p :D :p (that's me, licking my lips!) I put it in the refrigerator, before we left this afternoon...came home and cut a small taste piece (I had to taste it before I would take it to my family's dinner) and it was soooo creamy and tastes EVEN BETTER than SAD pumpkin pie.
I just can't tell you how good it really is!! My DH would not taste it, because he HATES pumpkin pie...but my 2 boys love pumpkin pie, so I gave them a taste and they LOVED it. I know they can't wait to eat some tomorrow!
I made it out of butternut squash, and it was enough for 2 pies! I will try to post pics later, they were so pretty, I ran and grabbed my camera! The first time I've ever taken a picture of my food, and I can't wait to share!
Hope ya'll have a great day!!

Applegirl:
It's in the post by "jacsam" titled (I think) pumpkin pie....I just pulled it back up to the top for you. (I have no idea how to post the link to the thread here for you to click on.)
The trick...I think is to blend, blend, blend this in the blender. I even went out and purchased the psyllium husks...in my opinion this really helped it firm up so I could slice it!!
Good luck.

Wendi,
Thanks for the info. Pumpkin pie has never been my fav--didn't even try it until I was about 13--it just looked suspicious to me for some reason. Well, have been lauded for my sad version, but after reading your post and having a spare butternut squash on hand as well as the latest edition of Delicious, will be definately be trying this recipe.

LGJ: Let me know if you like the RAW version, I'm guessing you WILL!
My kids loved it. My DD (age 7) was suspicious, but I explained to her that it was like "pudding" pie (for her it's a texture thing) and then she smiled and said with a big ole grin, "IT'S GOOD"
The flavor is so fresh, and creamy.
THANKS ANNA....YOU'VE OUTDONE YOURSELF, AND WITH ONE OF MY OLD SAD FAVORITES, I thought I would never eat again. Now it's BETTER than the old version.:D

My guess is that they went to the page the recipe was on, copied the link from the address bar, then opened up a message and pasted it into the message window.

Wendi,
I now have a butternut squash pie chilling in the fridge. The filling tastes pretty awsome--substituted cut up apples which I processed in fp till smooth and added some date soak water as needed as too lazy to dig out the juicer. For crust, did not use honey and did 1/2almonds and 1/2 pecans. Both the filling and the crust taste awsome. Did use 2 T psyllium powder, so hopefully will set beautifully, too.
(Your daughter sounds a little like me in the suspicious department--lol)
Thank you rawhippie for the directions on this pie. Followed them with good results.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Oh, yeah.....I made this recipe last year around thanksgiving time and LOVED it too. I took it with me to a family thanksgiving dinner and everyone else was taken by the SAD pecan pie, pumpkin, apple etc so my pie was basically eaten by me and I was just fine with it. Enjoyed every bite.

jacsam: I was the only one who ate my pie too. It tasted so wonderful to ME, and I actually heard some of my cousins laughing at me. It kinda hurt, but I figured they were the ones missing out. SAD thing is, they didn't even TRY it!!! How dare they laugh....I am definitely making this again this year, it was so easy and wonderful.....my favorite!!!

Oh--- I re-read the thread and remembered something, my CHILDREN actually loved eating this at HOME, but were too embarassed by everyone else's reactions to admit that they liked it, which also made me angry at my family. They really are SAD (in more ways than one!!)
