TMI Warning: This may be too detailed for some. ;)
Tummy has been aching just a bit.. mostly a pressure feeling and the hubby won't stop complaining about his erm.. rather large... potty related... things.. are HUGE and scary... oh and gas he has it too.
I, on the other hand, don't like the gas and wouldn't like to find a nice healthy CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP remedy, preferably something already in my spice cupboard. Also, and I think many of the married ladies out there may be able to sympathize, I'm SO happy that not only am I added more healthy fruits and veggies to our diet everyday but also our tiny home doesn't reek to high heaven every time my hubby goes to the bathroom! Its a miracle! lol You can actually go in there and use the potty after hes been in there.. a while (ew)... and theres no stinky smell! Thank you God! Its amazing! :D
Now if only my tummy discomfort and gas would let up.
(At least the farts aren't funky smellin'! W00t! haha)

First of all ~ that is hysterical, and true. Enzymes were the one thing that I have found that helps my tummy. You could always try some ginger or tumeric tho too! :D

have read that that the indian herb "hing" is good, but have never even tasted it, supposed to be a little like garlic.

yes-I use enzymes and they have helped TREMENDOUSLY!!! I eat sauerkraut and miso EVERYDAY. I go thru like 1/2 jar of miso and 2-3 jars of kraut a week! My belly was in so much PAIN, then I started taking some enzymes and probiotic, and I feel SOOOO much better. I don't plan to be on them forever, just for the first few months or so while my body adjusts.
You are too funny! I just want to offer my condolences for whatever died inside of your hubby. :o :D

With the exception of juicing raw foods provides a lot more fabulous fiber. All that fiber moving through is bound to stir things up as it whisks out the old crud. That fabulous fiber is essential for removing toxins. So looking at it from a health standpoint fiber is good. I think the initial gas after going raw diminishes as a person gets cleaner. I wonder how many MPG the average raw foodist gets ? HeHe.

If you have ginger in your spice cabinet, you can add a teaspoon to warm water and drink it - it's great for soothing bellyaches - you may find it really strong at first so just use a little.
Such a hilarious post - maybe it's their sly way of torturing us...!

Wow.. rereading my first post.. dang.. was having a very dyslexic day that day. lol Seriously I'm dyslexic, really!, and should have reread it to check for errors before posting and sounding like a crazy person. rofl
Sorry about that.. ;)
Anywho..
I posted this a short while back and have to say the gas is still a issue but the bathroom has never been so fresh! The smell is there but its much much more faint and dissipates very very quickly.
The enzyme pills you can buy for this kind of thing would probably be way way out of our budget at the moment. However I've got some ground ginger so I can definitely work with that. I'll try and having some green tea and ginger every day perhaps that'll help a bit. Hopefully a bit of ginger tea and some stretching in the morning will help with the.. er.. "wind" as the English say. (Gone with the wind... teehee) :D
My hubby has been complaining about how hes been more gassy since changing our eating habits but he HAS come to also appreciate how much he doesn't smell nearly as bad now! I'm sure his coworkers appreciate it almost as much as I do.
(Now if he tries to be mean and pick on me by pulling the covers over my head the joke is on HIM! Ha! No stinkem.. ) :P
Oh and I will also note that every since I saw "You Are What You Eat" (BBC America) I've stopped trying to hold 'em in. Seriously! I don't believe everything Jillian has to say but I'd be willing to believe holding in your farts can't be good for you. Apparently farting is also a way of releasing nasty toxins from your body! (As many of you clearly know.. and I did not.) Of course its never lady like to hike up your hip and cut one in public so I try to be sly... still hard to be sly with the thunderous gas build up caused by the abundance of fruits n veggies. ;)
So yes.. tea, a stretch and some time and I'm hoping the gas will lighten up. Of course I'd rather be gassy and healthy than lady like and full of crap.
And hey.. maybe if I do embarrass myself with a loud "Poot!" in public it might be conversation starter! You never know! hehe "Sorry about that.. I've been eating lots of healthy fruit and veg lately. Makes you gassy but its sooo good for you."

Cinnamon, anise, fennel, allspice, ginger, fenugreek, cardamon, nutmeg.
:)
Do a google search for spices for gas remedies.. you'll find lots.
Beano works wonders, too!

Does anyone find that food combining helps them digest better and cut down on gas and bloat ?

I've been trying to eat easier to digest foods like fruits first and harder to digest foods like vegetables second. I'm afraid I'm not always that successful though.

haven't read this thread... as my daughter won't stop talking to me LOL
but garlic and onion can make you real gassy and bloated... perhaps removing/reducing them?

farts are your own natural version of organic aroma therapy
as a child it use to gross me out when my brother or granny farted
but now i too find joy is this most uncivilized behavior
flatulance is so liberating:)
TMI....rectal farts are definately less embarassing and more natural than vaginal farts
