Remember the "Good old RawTimes"
My kids and I finally decided what we were going to make for Thanksgiving dinner "which will be all 100 percent raw" for the three of us. We are going to eat our first raw dinner with relatives while they have their traditional dinner. Then at night we are going to have a great celebration with the three of us and do another Thanksgiving dinner with our mock turkey loaf, raw stuffing, raw cranberry sauce, raw avocado pea salad and raw fudge for desert.
My daughter made a comment about how she wanted to get all of my recipes so that when she has kids she can relive the memories of our dinner. That got me thinking, that maybe it's not so much the cooked traditional thanksgiving dinner that people crave, but the memories of old times they want to relive. Thanksgiving is a day when everything slows down, and family is around helping you prepare dinner or sitting around the table and talking while things are being prepared. It's a time of re-connecting with people we love and passing down traditions that have come down the family tree from generation to generation.
As a first generation 100 percent raw foodist I took a pledge in front of my kids that I would stay 100 percent raw the rest of my life, so I could be around to teach my grandkids how to prepare raw foods, and possibly my great grandkids. When the family sits around and relives old Thanksgiving memories, they will be raw food memories. The cycle of S.A.D eating will be broken. Then when it comes to Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving the next generation won't have to stress about explaining their diet or defending their diet. They will look forward to sharing it and all sitting down together to eat it.
The key is, is that it starts with me. As a first generation raw foodist I'm going to have a great RAW Thanksgiving Dinner so that the next generation can, and the next and next, and next......
Peace to all of you, and hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving Day.
